    Some great tips Ivan!
I normally wash and dry my vehicle before using a clay bar (with lubricant) then wash and dry it again prior to waxing.
Next time I am going to try your suggestion and clay bar the “wet” vehicle

    thanks

Great tips! Heres a question for you… During multi-step polishing can you save time by not wiping down between polishing steps? Or does that affect the results of polishes?

    • Ivan Rajic says:

Thanks Brock. Most of the time it will affect the results as usually you’re using a more abrasive polish/compound in the first stage and a finer polish for the 2nd stage. You don’t want the polish residue, oils, dust and paint residue that’s left on the surface to be used along with the polish of the 2nd stage.

In some instances however, products such as M105 and M205 can work together because the abrasives are similar and the surface may be left almost free of any residue, but I still wouldn’t recommend it.

In short, yes you can save time by doing that, but more often than not you’ll sacrifice results for only a bit of time saving.

Ivan, What dilution ratio do you use for TAW car shampoo as a pre-treatment for the dirtier areas of the vehicle?
    Great article!
    Thanks!

Hi JoAnn, I normally either use it full strength or dilute it a bit for the dirtier areas and when they are dirty. Otherwise it’s 50/50 with water for general pre-wash spraying.

I wash, Rinse & then clay with new soapy water, re-rinse and then dry, recondition the paint with Meguiars Reconditioning compound & use meguiars finishing wax, comes out pretty good…. Don’t use high speed buffer to much anymore, unless its really needed…..

Great information! I personally know a guy that clay bars and everything all in the first few steps of the wash after all of the dirt and grime are taken off of the paint exterior. I will use these tips in my own work.
