It's a must have when doing the 2 bucket wash method. I used only one in the rinse bucket and needless to say that all dirt and grime came off the glove easily as I rubbed it across and kept the glove clean.

These things are CLUTCH to performing a good detail. I have to admit I have neglected my wifes HHR for some time. Its black and looked terrible. A lot of dirt and road grime had built up. A previous wash with one bucket and no guard yielded less than favorable results. The most recent wash was with two buckets and two guards. Night and Day! It looks damn near showroom new just from proper washing technique. I now understand how crucial it is. Also it makes a small amount of shampoo go so much further. Great product!

This is a great product and a cost thats easy to justify. Keeps the dirt and grit away from the wash water!! And ultimately a much gentler wash!

I really dont know why I havent used one until now. Works as advertised and reasonable considering the price. A must have for anyone concerned about using a dirty mitt on a clean vehicle.

I used the two bucket method and actually used a grit guard in both. I was amazed with the amount of dirt these things can get out of sponges. I would definitely recommend these to people serious about protecting their ca/truck paint.

I've been using the two bucket method for a while now, but not with a grit guard. I used one in the rinse bucket to scrub my wash mitt on, and i noticed that the water in the rinse bucket ended up much dirtier and my wash bucket was still clean.

I highly recommend this and for the price you cannot go wrong with it. Sits at the bottom of the bucket and all the grime and dirt sit within the open slots on the bottom. Where your mitt will not re pick up dirt and put it back on your car. Scrape your mitt against the Grit Guard. Best when used in 2 bucket method. Buy it you'll have peace of mind the next time you wash your car :)

I was a bit skeptic considering this is simply a piece of plastic with spaces in between, but after reading all the great reviews I decided to drop the $10 for it and it is definitely very useful. I'm glad I have it as it makes the whole process of soaping and washing the car safer since I don't have to worry about those pesky rocks.

For $10, you're really wondering what you're getting since it's manufactured of a relatively small amount of plastic. But after using one and seeing the grit sit at the bottom instead of floating around the water, I'd pay 2-3x as much for the result. I'll never wash my car without 1 or 2 of these ever again.

These are must haves, at the minimum for the rinse bucket. After washing my wheels (dedicated mitt) I raked it across the grit guard and couldn't believe how much dirt it took off the mitt.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is amazing how much grit ends up in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket after using it.

This is truly one of the essential tools in safely cleaning a car. Anyone reading this must be interested in caring for their vehicle, so if you don't already have one (or two), order it now, before your next car wash. Nuff said.

Seperates clean water from dirt in 5 gallon bucket. Not sure if it will wear out my wash mits faster, but for sure it stops me from scracthing the paint on the car.

It does what it says it does, however it would be well noted that different buckets have different interior diameters. I have both the Autozone bucket and the Home Depot Bucket and in the Autozone bucket it stops about 5-6 inches from the bottom whereas the Home Depot it stops about 1 inch... maybe less.. Makes a difference on amount of water used.

I was surprised how much dirt the grit guard seperates from the wash. I have one in both buckets. It is made of a really strong plastic too. It fits any 5 gallon bucket I own, and when I wash any of my vehicles Its in the buckets. How can you go wrong for the price?

A must have for anyone who is an automotive enthusiast. Keeps the dirt seperated from your washcloth or wash brush, which is essential in reducing the chances of reapplying the dirt you're trying to remove and or scratching your vehicle.

Just did my first wash with the grit guard and i am simply amazed at how much dirt was at the bottom of my rinse bucket. This thing separates the dirt from my mitt effortlessly and it keeps it at the bottom of my rinse bucket. This product is a must for anyone!

Grit Guard works well. I use it with a wash bucket I purchased from Advance Auto Parts. However, I think it would be better if the guard went further down into the bucket. As it is, the guard stops 5-6 inches from the bottom of the bucket. It does have a nice feature of two finger holes in the middle of the guard that makes installation and especially removal of the guard from the bucket easy.
