The 4" Lake Country Orange Light Cutting Pad is a versatile pad for removing light to heavy imperfections. This pad should be used to apply a medium cutting polish or a compound. Depending on the softness of your paint, buffer used, polish used, and your technique, you may be able to finish your polish fine enough with an orange pad so that you can go right to applying your favorite sealant or wax. However, when using a heavier cutting polish or compound, you typically will want to follow up with a finer polish and pad combination to ensure there is no micro-marring, hazing, or holograms left behind. Using the Orange Light Cutting Pad is recommended before stepping up to the more aggressive Yellow Cutting Pad or Purple Foamed Wool Pad.

Benefits of Smaller Pads:

On a random orbital buffer, such as the Porter Cable 7424:

• Provides more bite than larger pads, in order to break polishes down further and remove more imperfections
• Ability to maneuver the buffer in tigher areas and closer to edges and trim
• Increased control with the buffer

On a rotary buffer, such as the Metabo PE 12-175:

• Provides less bite than larger pads, which makes using a rotary buffer less risky
• Easier to finish down the paint without rotary holograms, micro-marring, and other imperfections
• Ability to maneuver the buffer in tigher areas and closer to edges and trim
• Increased control with the buffer
