These pads are re-usable so wash them after applications and keep using them for years to come! Best of all it leaves an optically clear shine behind so you often don't need to follow up with other polishes and pads. The low profile design easily gets in to tough to reach areas and is easy to control. This pad utilizes microfiber threads on the surface as opposed to traditional foam and wool based pads. The Meguiar's DA Microfiber Cutting Disc Buffing Pad is specifically designed to work with the Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction Compound. When this combination of pad and compound is used in conjunction with a dual action buffer like the Porter Cable 7424 XP you can expect amazing results. It helps work in the compound extremely well while leaving the surface free from haze so a follow up polishing step is often not needed. This pad is known for it's cutting power that removes surface imperfections, but it can finish down like much softer pads. Traditional pads can offer strong cutting power but they can leave behind a haze and don't finish down optically clear, so you have to follow up with a lighter pad and polish combo. Meguiar's also highly recommends using their backing plates because they have a shorter loop on their models (Meguiar's Professional Backing Plate, 5" Product Code: W67DA, 6" Product Code: S6BP). Overall, I'd say this system has exceeded my expectations. It's also very apparent to me that Meguiar's spent a lot of time developing the products. While I expected the polishes and pads to work well, as it's what I've come to expect from Meguiars, it was actually the little things about this system that showed how much thought went into developing these products.

This new microfiber system will definitely find its way into most or all detailing shops, and, more importantly, into the hands of DIY enthusiasts' with no rotary experience. It definitely helps to bridge the gap even more between DA polishing and the more aggressive, potentially dangerous, rotary polishing process.
I believe the ease of use is what will set it apart from any other competition and make it a favorite to many that have been waiting for some time now.

I started using this new system immediately upon arrival, and for the past 3 months I have used the compounding system exclusively (with the exception of some 4" spot pad compounding on the rotary), regardless of paint type, level of defects, hardness, etc. I have used it on single stage paint, clear coat systems, incredibly hard paint (Lamborghini), very soft paint, and I have even used it to clear up sanding marks!
While Meguiar's may not have designed it for really heavy defects, it sure is capable of fixing them. Is this a game-changing technology? In my professional opinion it certainly is. Is it going to be the perfect solution for every detailer and every paint type? No it isn't...but then again, show me ANY product that is perfect for every situation. There are always limitations.
One important note that I should make on this new DA system is that it was also designed to achieve rotary-like correction capability (or better) on a dual-action polisher. A rotary polisher requires a very high level of skill and experience to do correctly without the safety issues of burning edges and creating swirls and holograms.
Meguiar's has developed game-changing technology here; particularly on the compounding side of the equation. Heavy defect removal, ease of use, and with the relative safety of using a dual action polisher is a winner in my book!
