My first experience using a buffer was with the Porter Cable 7424XP with Lake County 6.5" Orange pad and Poorboy's SSR 2.5. My brother graciously allowed his 2004 black Honda Pilot to be the guinea pig. It needs tons of help. lots of swirls, LOTS! Well, SSR 2.5 made a huge difference. I made 2 or three passes as I tried to get my bearings on the hood of this neglected car, and I cannot tell you how much of a difference it made. Two passes probably did 75% correction on a vehicle that likely meeded a wool pad and SSR3 (or me honing my buffing skills). I then worked over a 1999 dark blue Miata truck, and achieved probably 90% or better correction with 2 passes of SSR2.5/orange and 1 pass of SSR1/white.
It's an excellent, easy product to work with that I will definitely put my trust in as I work on my own vehicles.
I recently repainted my trunk deck lid. It is black. Because I painted it myself, without benefit of a paint booth to protect the drying paint, I knew I would be in for quite a bit of post-paint work to make it right. I let it cure for 2 months before blocking it down with 2000 grit. Using a Porter Cable 7424 and some consumer compounds, I was unable to remove the highly visible sanding scratches, even after several hours of polishing.
I decided it was time for professional help and ordered Poorboy's SSR 2.5. TWO light passes with this stuff on a wool pad completely removed the scratches and gave me a blemish-free surface which I finished off with SSR1 Glaze. I will recommend this product to ANYONE - it is simply that good.
