SONAX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect Product Reviews

I have a white car on white wheels so it's a bit of a pain to keep clean. When it comes to the Sonax cleaner it's amazing. I spray on it and watch it turn from green to red and then use the highest power I can on the hose to spray it down at which point most of the dust is gone. Some spots (being I have white wheels) will still have a gray finish which wipe off with an easy towel swipe since it's all loose already.

Used this prior to taking my wheels in to be refinished. Cleaned them up so well that I doubt the repairman had to do much in that regard. The stuff is terrific. When it turns red and you hit it with a brush, it does look a bit like a murder scene though! Ha!

If you are looking for a fantastic wheel cleaner look no further. I have tried everything made and settled on PS-21. I recently ran out so I decided to try Sonax because the reviews are great. All I can say is that this stuff is beyond fantastic. Spray on and 5 mins later rinse the wheel and it actually fully cleans the wheel. No scrubbing at all, no lie. Buy this product and you will not regret it.

Use to be a big fan of P21S wheel cleaner but after using this the first time, I've since switched over to Sonax for my main wheel cleaning product. I don't know if it's as safe as the P21S but it works a lot faster and stronger for sure. Just make sure you don't apply this in the sun and let your wheels dry. I usually apply this in the shades and make sure I don't let it dry out completely just to be safe. The color changing effect really works, when you apply it on a dirty set of wheels with brake dust...the color changes from green to red. Once your wheel is clean from brake dust, you'll notice that the color does not change if there is no brake dust to break down!

too funny - Raman A had the exact same experience as i did. both on bmw wheels that would otherwise be a pain to clean, both with the EZ detail brush. cleaning my wheels takes almost no effort/time, i'm back here to buy the 5 liter jug!

This is the BEST wheel cleaner I have ever used. I just ordered the 5 litre jug so that I never run out. Works wonders even on my BMW's wheels which are infamous for building up brake dust. I use spray some one, let it soak in a bit, then use the EZ detail brush to get the wheel wells clean. Flawless end results.

OK the absolute best wheel cleaner out there. I am in the process of selling this to everyone who sees the after part when used to clean their wheels. My clients love who I can get the results of I get and it is because of this fantastic product. Great smell and very professional bottle that allows you to not waste the product sprays a thin and even amount which lets it last a long time. I need to start buying it by the gallon. sigh**

Great wheel cleaner, an absolute pleasure to use. Spray and green, wash it off when it turns red. I have used it on wheels with a clearcot finish and they come out nice and shiny. I will definitely buy this product again.

It is absolutely unreal how well this works. I saw Todd's write up and had to pick it up. The front rims of our x5 were bad. So bad that i waited another 2 weeks before trying Sonax on them just to see how good this was. IT WAS UNREAL how clean they got the wheels!!! So the next week i tried it on my 22 year old bmw basketweave rims and was as equally impressed. The smell is really good, the ONLY thing you have to really be careful w/this stuff. You don't want to get this on your hands or on your skin. wear gloves and eye protection. As a bonus, the red looks awesome when it reacts to the dust.

How the heck does this stuff work?!?! It goes from neon green to blood red after it eats away all your brake dust! I'm no chemist, so I'll just play it safe and assume it's black magic.
Oh, and what's with all the hating on the smell? I kinda like it...

Great Wheel Cleaner. I'm on my 2nd bottle. Really cleans up Wheels very well. A little expensive for a wheel cleaner but you get your Money's worth. Follow the recommended instructions and you should be good. No CONS I can find with this wheel cleaner as far as CLEANING ability goes. Highly Recommended!!

Pretty awesome product! Price was almost a deal breaker but I decided to pick it up and it's great it would be even better if it was cheaper though.

I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that this stuff works wonders......Coupled with Stoner's Tarminator, there is nothing this cleaner can't do. I just spray, hang for 2mn MAX, take a brush and water to the wheel and VOILA...boom goes the dynamite. Smells like complete butt but I will gladly make that sacrifice for such a fantastic product....it's kinda like accepting a hot chick that can't do math

The fact that its safe on all wheels types, makes this the go to wheel cleaner for my shop. Whether factory wheels or custom 3-piece forged wheels, this is our first choice. Even baked on brake dust is no match. Though it may take a few applications and some sustained dwell time, it basically "chews" through the brake dust.

Great wheel cleaner! If my wheels aren't too dirty, I really can just spray this on, wait a bit, and rinse off. Otherwise it sometimes needs a little scrubbing first. The first bottle I bought (back in April) smelled awful, but the new one has a "lemon scent" which smells much better and masks the old "70's hair perm" smell.

Great stuff. A little spendy. I can see where this would be great on euro cars where they have dusting issues with the brake pads. Its an aggressive cleaner with a low PH that works best with a little agitation. Don't let the label fool you, it says lemon scented but it smells like lemon death. Small concession to make for how well it works. This stuff was back ordered forever when I placed my order, but DI kept me informed and rewarded me for being patient. Thank you DI! If you are going to order, buy 2 bottles and reorder when you finish the first.

Works like it says! More intense cleaning than P21S non-gel cleaner.

This is a great product. Spray on, wait 5 minutes, and spray off. Unfortunately I had heavy brake dust build-up on the inner wheel barrels and used almost the entire 16oz bottle. As others have noted, there really should be a size between 16oz and 1 gallon. Do yourself a favor and get the 1 gallon size.

This product works very well. Spray it on, agitate a little and super clean wheels. Even gets around the lug nuts clean. I wish there was a size in between the little spay bottle size and the super huge size. This is the best wheel cleaner I have tried.

This stuff is really something different, unlike any wheel cleaner you have ever used. Works so good and it's fun watching the floresent green gel liquid turn to purple when reacting with the particles on the wheels. It goes fast so buy the big 5 liter jug. I bought 2 small containers first till I learned the big one is the way to go. Best wheel cleaner I have ever used hands down.

Finishing washing the rest of the vehicle then circled back with a sudsy brush as my last step. This wheel cleaner is the absolute best for my money.

This product is AMAZING!!!!! I saturated some heavily caked Audi wheels and the brake dust just melted off. Required no scrubbing what so ever.

Tried some of this on my daughters beater hubcaps covered in brake dust. This works *so* much better on heavily contaminated wheels than the PS21 wheel gel. The brake dust literally melted away with virtually no scrubbing. If you have heavy deposits, try this.

What is there to say about Sonax that hasn't been said? Sonax cleaned up about 95% of the caked on dirt/brake dust/etc on my wheels, probably could have gotten close to 100% clean with a better agitator. After I have used sonax, I follow up on maintenance washes with CG Diablo Gel.

This is one product that really blew my socks off. I have Black Volk rims and this product works Wonders without effort the wheel clear coat. it does have a good smell. It cleans well and get rid of all the brake dust. the result was amazing.Excellent product, This stuff definitely packs a punch.Highly Recommended!

In the past I have relied on the P21S wheel Gel cleaner exclusively for my BMW's wheels. As some might know, BMW is notorious for using heavy dusting brake pads leading to frequent cleaning needed for the wheels (particularly the front ones). The SONAX cleaner was equal if slightly better than the P21S. It did not require as long of a dwell time and was pretty effective in cleaning the wheels with some additional help with a wheel brush. Going forward, for me either the P21S and the SONAX will work depending on the price.

Worked really good on my stock wheels. It has a very nice spray head so you don't waste a lot of product.

This is by far the best non-acidic wheel cleaner I have ever used. I put my wheels through a torture test with full race pads on my Subaru WRX, and this cleaner cuts through that build-up with ease. This is by far better than p21s wheel cleaner. Out of the premium priced wheel cleaners this is the best. If you are just pulling light duty, Chemical Guys Diablo gel will do fine and much cheaper (can be diluted 3:1). But for tough jobs this is great, but does not smell the best fair warning.

After being let down by P21S Gel, I was reluctant to spend this much money on another wheel cleaner again. I took a chance and tried this stuff on my painted Viper wheels, in concert with the EZ detail brush. Oh my god I was appalled! I only had this stuff on my wheels for 5min each, compared to two hours with the P21S which didn't work. My only regret is not buying more bottles because its now on backorder.

BEST Wheel Cleaner ever!
Safe, effective and easy to use. It smells great and you can see it in action. It will apply in a bright green react with break dust and turn red. Pressure wash at your are done. I have tried all wheel cleaners and this is by far the best.
The must economical way to go is with the 5Liter container.
