The “Decon,” in Optimum Touchless Decon Wash came about as a by-product of what was intended to be a consumer focused touchless car wash product. We initially set out to design a car wash product that allowed the end user to foam on it on the vehicle, rinse after a short dwell time, and dry with an air blower or towel as an alternative to a full contact wash.
Most touchless car wash solutions use a two chemical system, one alkaline and one acidic. Alternatively, they would utilize a single chemical favoring either an alkaline solution or an acidic solution. We were able to create a single pH neutral formula. Favoring simplicity and ease of use, we wanted to avoid a two chemical system. The result is an extra strong but safe detergent that can be used for multiple purposes.
As a touchless wash solution, it gives the user an easy to use pH neutral single chemical product for quick and easy touch free car washing. Used as a touchless wash it is best for frequently washed vehicles where the vehicle owner wishes to avoid frequent contact washes. Being pH neutral it is safer and more forgiving to use, especially outside in the sun. When used in a touchless format it is strong enough to remove dirt and minor contamination from the vehicle but gentle enough to not strip most waxes and sealants from the surface.
When Optimum Touchless Decon Wash is used for a contact wash with a sponge or wash mitt it is capable of decontamination. It takes the place of an all purpose cleaner in the decontamination process. However, iron removal and mineral deposit removal should be performed with dedicated products. As a decontamination wash, it is a safer and easier to use alternative to a dedicated all purpose cleaner.
As part of our ceramic coating installation process, Optimum Touchless Decontamination Wash has replaced Optimum Power Clean, our high alkaline APC, as our preferred product for use in the decontamination steps. It cleans the vehicle just as well, provides higher lubrication and the detailer does not have to worry about the product drying on the surface. We advise users not to allow Power Clean to dry on the surfaces, especially glass.
Another application we found for the product is cleaning heavy equipment and farming equipment. We have customers with large farming equipment who were cleaning their ceramic coated equipment with Power Clean. Cleaning equipment in direct sun with an APC is problematic. Users occasionally had issues with Power Clean drying on the surface leaving streaks and residue behind. With Touchless Decon Wash the users experience the same high cleaning power of Power Clean without the drawbacks of using an APC in the direct sun.
Optimum Touchless Decon Wash serves as a touchless wash, a heavy duty decontamination wash and it can also serve as a strong foaming pre-wash. Foaming on the vehicle and allowing it to dwell before a contact wash will lift dirt from the surface making for an easier wash experience. It also features heavy duty degreasing power which we found to be effective on wheel wells and on traffic film.

In the process we were able to discover a second use for the product in heavy duty decontamination applications. In keeping with the many uses of our original product, Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine (ONR), Optimum Touchless Decon Wash joins our lineup as the latest multi-use product.
