From Cut to Finish: Testing the Rupes DA Wool Pads

Testing the Rupes DA Wool Pads

When it comes to paint correction, having the right pad and polish combo makes all the difference. Recently, I had the chance to test out the new Rupes DA Wool Pads (Coarse and Medium) in the 3″ size on my Griot’s G9 polisher (3″ backing plate), paired with P&S Rehab Correction Creme and P&S Therapy Final Polish.

First Impressions & Key Changes

The DA Wool Pads replaced the older BW Series Wool Pads, and Rupes did not just slap on a new label, they redesigned them with performance and durability in mind. Some key updates include:

Performance on the G9

I tested both the Coarse and Medium versions across different levels of paint correction. Here is what stood out:

Final Thoughts

Rupes nailed the redesign with the DA Wool Pads. The shorter fibers, cylindrical shape, and 100% Italian wool construction all come together for pads that not only correct quickly but also finish down cleaner than expected. Even the Coarse pad allowed me to transition smoothly into finishing steps without excessive haze cleanup.

For anyone still using the BW Series, the DA Wool Pads are a worthy upgrade. And if you have been hesitant about trying wool pads for DA polishers, these are a fantastic entry point durable, efficient, and surprisingly versatile.
