Rodney Tatum of Mirror Reflections Auto Spa (Florida) has a one-on-one interview with Chris Kerschen of owner of Black Label Car Care (Kansas).  Black Label Car Care located in Goddard, a suburban region of Wichita, Kansas.  Black Label Car Care is known for Paint Correction, Ceramic Coating, and Paint Protection Film services.  Clients of Chris will rave about his attention to detail and his ability to forge human connections with people.

Me:  Can you tell us a little about yourself, and what inspired you to start an auto detailing business?

Chris:  I have always been into cars and always had nice cars myself.  Spending a lot of money on my own cars made me want to take care of them so I spent tons of money on tools, supplies, pressure washers to keep them dialed in.  After spending all the money over time, I figured I’d start asking friends and family if they wanted their cars done, and it just grew from there.

Me:  What would you say has been your greatest challenge early on and throughout time as the owner of Black Label Car Care?

Chris:  Keeping the company evolving, adding new services and continuing to improve quality and knowledge in all services.  Continuing to grow by marketing and hiring more employees to take more load off myself has been a challenge.

Me:  Upon seeing the feedback from your clients, there is an overarching theme on connection, in addition to meticulous work.  Can you describe the importance of communication with your client interactions?

Chris:  Communication has always been important to me, even back when working a day job.  I always want people to be kept in the loop and ensure that customers are left with multiple choices for the different services we offer, I enjoy talking about my services and want to ensure customers know what they are getting, and expectations will be exceeded.

Me:  So often we hear the narrative about quality detailing, that customers do not really care or it does not benefit business to emphasize quality.  Can you tell me more about how your uncompromising approach to the details has really made you stand out?

Chris:  There’s been a few times where I would catch something I missed when the customer was present or during maintenance washes that I would point out and fix.  Most of the time customers’ reactions were “I would never have noticed that.”  I treat all my vehicles as if they were going to be looked at in things are a microcosm of your overall business.
