Jescar Medium Polish: Tested With Lake Country HDO Pads

by

The Jescar Medium Polish is one product that I wanted to test out as a 1 Stage polishing option; a dedicated polish that can provide a noticeable improvement in the appearance of the paint in one step.

A lot of people will suggest that Jescar and Menzerna produce identical products.  With experience using Menzerna Medium Cut Polish (MC 2500), I believe I had a great litmus test to evaluate the performance of this product by Jescar.  I believe MC 2500 has a place in our arsenal of polishes, but to be honest I rarely use it.  With a level of cut that is not in the realm of a true compound and finish that is not quite on par with most top-level finishing polishes, it falls short in the practicality of use department.

I was most hopeful to see a better or more reliable refinement from Jescar Medium Polish.  I want to see if it was a better option as a 1 stage correction.  Its ability to finish down was much more practical than whatever loss in cut.  I was impressed.

Although this Chevrolet Camaro would not hold up to a Scangrip swirl inspection, I was very impressed with the level of enhancement.  Jescar Medium Polish, had a good enough cut with a better than expected finish to greatly enhance the depth and clarity of vehicle that was in average condition.

My tool and pad combination used to polish the car in this picture is the Rupes Duetto with Lake Country Black HDO pads.  In my opinion, the HDO pads (black, orange, and blue) are a high quality and a great pad option for long throw polishers.

Like other Jescar and Menzerna polishes, to get optimal results several section passes are necessary.  I always worked this product for between 5 to 8 section passes.  Because of the long working time, depending on the results (more correction vs. speed/efficiency) you can expand your working area within reason.

Another Way To Use This Product:

If you do not have a paint thickness gauge, just learning about car care, and or looking to greatly enhance your daily driver I may suggest this option.  A Two-Step Correction starting with some medium cut pads and then followed by a finishing pad using the same polish.  It is a safer and economical way to start out into paint correction.  You may also find the finish may be acceptable enough after the cutting pass to not refine further.

What speed did you use for your test spot? I’ve used both the fine and heavy versions of The Jescar polishes and found that the Jescar Heavy Beats Menzerma FG/HG 400 in every way possible. Jescar Heavy cuts better and leaves virtually zero dust and wipes off life a dream. Jescar Light is not as impressive and is very similar to Menzerma 3500. One good thing about both is they retail for $5 less! I have discontinued my use of Menzerma 400 but I am still making up my mind on 3500. I’ll have to give Jescar Medium a try to see if it’s better than 2500 (which I rarely use anyway).

Menzerna 2400 has more cut then 2500. I always like 2400. Menzerna 400 is more like a strong medium polish. I don’t know why they label it as a heavy cut compound. Menzerna 400 is like Sonax Perfect Finish. They both remove 2000 grit sanding marks. If you look up the Technical data sheets for Menzerna, you will see that Menzerna 400 removes 2000 grit sanding marks. So you can use Menzerna 400 pretty much has a very good one step since it’s more like a strong medium polish since it removes 2000 grit sanding marks. Any medium polish removes 2500 grit sanding marks & final polish removes 3000 grit sanding marks. I use both Menzerna & Jescar. I will say I like the Jescar products. I also use Sonax CutMax & Perfect Finish. I definitely like Sonax CutMax a lot. A must try if you never had. Menzerna 300

Yeah I like Menzerma 300 too. It’s kind of a hidden gem in the Menzerma line.

The 300 is something I have been curious, just so many polishes so little time you could say.

Freddy I can definitely say I have gotten good results out of all of those choices.

Their all good products. With today’s technology & diminishing abrasive it makes the job a whole lot better & easier then back in the days. You can get great results with any products & the right pads combination, also with the right technique. But again every paint is different. I been detailing on the side for almost 20 years. I have a detailing on Facebook that I post up some of my work. I try to keep it up to date. I don’t take pictures of all my work. It’s called “Glass Image Auto Spa”

I believe for the cars mentioned, I had it at speed 4.5 and 5 for the duetto. The Jescar Medium Cut with Duetto is generally a 4, 4.5, or 5.

Totally disagree with the assessment of PF2500’s finishing ability. In the six years I’ve been using it, it has always finished down perfectly.
