My Top 10 Detailing Products

My Top 10 Detailing Products
Everyone loves Top 10 lists, right? We all have a few favorite products and chemicals we go to again and again – here are mine!

DI Brushes ATLASTA Soft Tip Brush

ATLASTA-bursh

The DI ATLASTA is an extremely versatile and effective brush. I have one set aside for wheels, one for exterior crevices/around emblems, and one for interior details. It holds up well, is gentle, and just all-around makes me happy. My only complaint is how easily it rolls down the driveway!

DI Brushes Wheel Wash Boar’s Hair Brush

Boars-hair-wheel-brush

Yes, it’s spendy for a brush – BUT OH SO WORTH IT. Gentle but effective, it’s one of those tools that makes me say “why did I wait to long to buy this?”

Tuf Shine Tire Brush

Tuf-Shine-Tire-Brush

The Tuf Shine Tire Brush is the best I’ve found for every type of tire. The bristles are sturdy enough to get a good scrub, but not so stiff that they fling filth everywhere.

Grit Guard Grit Guard Insert

Grit-Guard

Grit guards are pretty much a necessity – keep them in your buckets to help minimize dirt making its way back onto the paint.

Meguiar’s Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel

Meguiars-Supreme-Shine-Microfiber-Towel

My go-to for an all-around microfiber towel, these start out as use for waterless/rinseless washes, then are transitioned to general use once they’ve started getting a little more worn out. They’re a great towel at a great price.

Gyeon Silk Dryer

Gyeon-Silk-Dryer

By far my favorite drying towel, this runs rings around pretty much anything else. Just one can do a compact to medium car.

Gyeon WetCoat

Gyeon-WetCoat

Effective AND forgiving, this stuff is great. Spritz on, spray off, and you’re done. I haven’t had any issues with it, unlike some of the other spray silica sealants.

Meguiar’s Glass Cleaner Concentrate D120

Glass-Cleaner-Concentrate-D120

Affordable AND effective? Yes please. Plus it smells outstanding, which is a solid bonus.

Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer

Meguiars-Quik-Interior-Detailer

Meguiar’s typically offers an outstanding product at a great value, and their Quik Interior Detailer is another solid one. It works great on pretty much every surface – leather, glossy plastic and carbon fiber, screens – you name it.

Gyeon Smoothie

Gyeon-Smoothie

This has replaced the Lake Country Wash Wedge as my go-to wash media. Soft, effective, and can be used either as a mitt or just held on to.

So, there are my top 10 favorite products – what are yours?

    How about waxes sealant etc

  2. Ron Ayotte says:

I use Gyeon WetCoat after every wash on my three coated vehicles… gives the coating a little boost and is a great value for it’s price!

  3. Raymond says:

Bought Gyeon Wet Coat long time ago and noticed the solution’s color became lighter and several particles floating inside the spray bottle. Is this normal occurrence? Should I discard this?

    • Reece @ DI says:

According to our Gyeon rep, “”There is no cause for alarm here and this is very normal with a product of this type. It is completely visual and does not affect performance at all. We have always seen this with WetCoat”. As long as the product was stored at room temperature you should not see any issues. If you have any concerns test on a small area and inspect the results. If you do not like how it is reacting, it could be time to purchase a new bottle especially if it was not stored correctly.

      • Raymond says:

        Hello!
Thank You for responding to my concerns!
How do you properly store Gyeon Wet Coat? Away from direct sunlight? Wrap it with aluminum foil?
        Any recommendations?
        Thanks!

        • Reece @ DI says:

At room temperature and away from direct sunlight. Any drastic increase or decrease in temperature is not great for the WetCoat and most other detailing chemicals.

  4. Ken says:

Hi… I just use gyeon quick view on my car windshield and shower doors, no problem on shower doors but on my windshield I applied then waiting maybe 10 minutes and buff off ,found a few small spots that didn’t come off but buff again with a low PH car soap and came off, then did my wife’s car but this time waited 20 minutes because a watch a demonstration on auto geeks in which they said let sit 20-25 minutes, notice it was SO MUCH harder to remove so rewashed with the same PH car soap and still can’t remove it all😫,I. Clean both windshields then clayed so I know the windshield was spotless, I also used a prep before applying the glass coating.

Any suggestions on how I can remove remaining dried coating WITHOUT REMOVING the coating?

    Thanks

    Ken

    • Ken,

I haven’t used QuickView, but that definitely seems too long to let it cure. Two options that I would try:

      1. Apply more QuickView on top, wait 5 minutes, then try wiping off with a damn microfiber
      2. Polish it off

      Best of luck!
