{"id":14235,"date":"2014-10-09T08:00:22","date_gmt":"2014-10-09T12:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=14235"},"modified":"2014-10-09T14:27:33","modified_gmt":"2014-10-09T18:27:33","slug":"product-review-carpro-spotless-water-spot-and-mineral-remover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/product-review-carpro-spotless-water-spot-and-mineral-remover\/","title":{"rendered":"Product Review: CarPro Spotless Water Spot and Mineral Remover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hard water is something that most vehicle owners have to deal with on a regular basis. \u00a0Water from rain, and especially sprinklers, hoses, and other sources of public water can leave unsightly spots all over your vehicle if the drops are left to dry on the surface. \u00a0These water spots are actually mineral deposits that are left on the surface of your vehicle after the water has evaporated. \u00a0The minerals can &#8216;bake&#8217; onto the paint and can become very difficult to remove. \u00a0If left unattended for extended periods of time, these water spots can even etch into paint and cause some pretty serious damage.<\/p>\n<p>CarPro has developed their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/CarPro-M53\/Spotless-P912\/500-ml-S1\/\">Spotless Water Spot and Mineral Remover<\/a> to help fight these issues and offer a quick and easy solution to stubborn water spots. \u00a0Traditionally, water spots are removed with abrasives through machine polishing processes. \u00a0While this method typically works well, it can be very time consuming. \u00a0Spotless has been developed with a\u00a0special blend of gentle acids, that safely neutralize the\u00a0mineral deposits on most vehicle surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle shown in the following photos was parked in a public parking lot, and the sprinkler system sprayed the vehicle. \u00a0The water was left to dry on the surface in the hot sun, and when the owner returned, there were spots all over the car. \u00a0These spots had already become so hard that they would not come off with traditional washing (the vehicle had already been washed prior to taking this photo). \u00a0This vehicle had previously been coated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/22ple-M57\/VX1-Pro-P681\/20-ml-S1\/\">22ple VX1 Pro<\/a>\u00a0paint coating, therefore polishing was not an option. \u00a0The reason for this is that if we were to polish the surface, there is a good\u00a0risk of removing the paint coating. \u00a0With that in mind, CarPro Spotless was the perfect choice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3807\/14115585488_f68dd502bb_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | CarPro Spotless\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo: Water spots from sprinkler system<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the vehicle was washed, Spotless was sprayed liberally onto the surface of one of the effected panels.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3785\/14115544389_83038cc406_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | CarPro Spotless\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Foam-Applicator-Pad-P94\/\">Yellow Foam Applicator<\/a> was used to work the product. \u00a0Using moderate pressure, I made crosshatch passes (side to side, then up and down). \u00a0 Be sure to wear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Nitrile-Gloves-Powder-Free-Black-100-pack-P618\/Large-S1\/\">gloves<\/a> to keep the product away from your skin.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2913\/14302237315_6a0f84eef5_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | CarPro Spotless\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I then used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Microfiber-M13\/All-Purpose-Towel-P103\/16-x-16-S1\/\">Blue All Purpose Microfiber Towel<\/a>\u00a0to carefully wipe away the Spotless residue from the surface.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3697\/14115607830_29a77ff2b4_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | CarPro Spotless\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The panel was then rinsed with water and dried. \u00a0The water spots were removed, and the panel looked much better.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3815\/14322409113_421682562d_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | CarPro Spotless\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have been very pleased with the Spotless product. \u00a0I have had great success removing light to moderate surface water spots very quickly and easily. \u00a0This product can be used on paint, glass, chrome, and plastic. \u00a0This\u00a0is a much needed product, as hard water spots are inevitable for most vehicles, and if they are not removed in a timely manner they can lead to much more severe damage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zach McGovern of Attention to Detailing gives his product review of the CarPro Spotless Water Spot and Mineral Remover.
