{"id":14724,"date":"2014-10-28T08:00:47","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T12:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=14724"},"modified":"2014-10-10T14:03:51","modified_gmt":"2014-10-10T18:03:51","slug":"product-review-carpro-perl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/product-review-carpro-perl\/","title":{"rendered":"Product Review: CarPro PERL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CarPro has an incredible lineup of products, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/CarPro-M53\/PERL-Plastic-Engine-Rubber-Leather-Protectant-P942\/500-ml-S1\/\">PERL<\/a> is no exception. \u00a0PERL is a versatile, water-based protective product\u00a0that can be used on <strong>P<\/strong>lastic, <strong>E<\/strong>ngine, <strong>R<\/strong>ubber, and <strong>L<\/strong>eather. \u00a0This product contains no solvents, so it will not damage your tires, or dry out your plastic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3844\/14586073278_c588d6f207_b.jpg\" alt=\"ATD | PERL\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo: CarPro PERL shown in various sizes along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/TUF-SHINE-M50\/Applicator-Sponge-P551\/\">Tuf Shine Tire Applicator Sponge<\/a> which works great for applying the product to tires and trim.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PERL is concentrated and can be diluted for various\u00a0uses. \u00a0Once the product has been applied and is dry, it provides a hydrophobic layer that will help to protect the surface beneath it by repelling water and dirt for up to 3 months. \u00a0PERL leaves a dry, non-greasy surface and the shine can be altered depending on how it is diluted.<\/p>\n<p>Common uses and dilution ratios for PERL are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Restoring &amp; Protecting Exterior Plastics: \u00a01:1 &#8211; 3:1<\/li>\n<li>Dressing &amp; Protecting Engine Panels: \u00a01:1 &#8211; 3:1<\/li>\n<li>Dressing Tires &amp; Rubber: \u00a0Undiluted &#8211; 1:1<\/li>\n<li>Dressing &amp; Protecting Interior Vinyl &amp; Leather: \u00a05:1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Note: \u00a0All dilution ratios are listed as (# Parts Water: # Parts PERL) and are simply recommendations. \u00a0You may adjust the ratios as needed to fit your personal needs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pickup a few of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Trigger-Spray-Bottle-P91\/8-oz-S3\/\">8 oz. spray bottles<\/a>\u00a0so you can experiment with various dilutions of PERL and keep many on hand so you are ready to handle anything from tire dressing to interior protection.<\/p>\n<p>I personally use PERL most frequently as a tire dressing. \u00a0I prefer a higher gloss, so I use it undiluted and apply a thin coat. \u00a0After the product has dried, I may apply a second coat to further enhance the shine and ensure even coverage. \u00a0I really love the look of PERL on tires!
