CarPro, the producer\u00a0of CQuartz has many great products ranging from chemicals to coatings. \u00a0CQuartz is\u00a0very well known coating line\u00a0in the detailing community. \u00a0CQuartz DLUX Plastic & Wheel Protection<\/a> is more widely known for use on plastic trim,\u00a0such as demonstrated in Zach McGovern’s previous review of DLUX<\/a>. \u00a0However, DLUX is also a great option for wheel protection with a high\u00a0resistance extreme temperatures (800+ degrees F),\u00a0while\u00a0also being safe for use\u00a0on almost any wheel finish.<\/p>\n

In this example I recently performed a wheels off service on this 2010 Volkswagen GTI. \u00a0The owner was not happy with how difficult it was to clean his wheels, as they always seemed to look dirty.<\/p>\n

After the exterior of car was cleaned it was pulled inside and placed on the lift to remove the wheels for the remainder of the service. \u00a0You will find it much easier to place the car on either a lift or jack stands when working with wheels, unless you are just going to be coating the faces of the wheels. \u00a0It will\u00a0make the process much easier as the wheels will need to be off the car for a while when coating them. \u00a0You would also only be able to work on the wheels from one of the vehicles\u00a0at a time, which would take a good amount of time and really slow down the process. When jacking the car up on a lift, you can remove all the wheels and deal with them together!<\/p>\n

As you can see in the above picture these wheels were quite dirty. \u00a0The\u00a0owner of this vehicle mentioned how these wheels would look like this most of the time\u00a0and how difficult it was\u00a0to clean them. \u00a0Next to enhance\u00a0protection, ease of cleaning is the greatest benefit of applying a\u00a0coating on wheels. \u00a0Dirt release is much greater when a coating is applied.<\/p>\n

This is also a good time to clean the back side of the tire while they are off the car. \u00a0It is very important to have a nice clean surface when applying coatings.<\/p>\n
