The paint had typical swirl marks in it, but there were few rock chips, no\u00a0deep scratches, and nothing that could be considered &#8216;major&#8217; damage. The sleek\u00a0body was lowered considerably with a modified air suspension system, and the vehicle was fitted with a nice set of Vossen wheels to really make it stand out on the road. \u00a0The new owner wanted us to make it look even better,\u00a0so after a thorough inspection, it was decided that the vehicle would benefit from a one-step correction process and nano coating on the paint and wheels.<\/p>\n<h2>Process<\/h2>\n<p>We began by thoroughly washing and decontaminating the exterior using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Meguiars-M43\/Hyper-Wash-P670\/128-oz-S1\/\">Meguiar&#8217;s Hyper Wash<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Gentle-Fine-Grade-Clay-P347\/200-g-S1\/\">Fine Grade Clay<\/a> to prepare it for the paint correction process. Once clean, we were ready to begin our test spots. \u00a0You can clearly see the swirl marks and defects in the paint.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7317\/27848788312_e7bcdd4256_b.jpg\" alt=\"swirl marks and defects in the paint\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My initial test\u00a0was with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Griots-M56\/BOSS-Correcting-Cream-P1060\/16-oz-S1\/\">Griot&#8217;s Garage Correcting Cream<\/a> on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Lake-Country-M7\/Orange-Light-Cutting-Pad-P58\/65-S1\/\">Orange Light Cutting Pad<\/a>. \u00a0This combo made a considerable difference, however I wanted to see if we could get a little more cut to get rid of the few remaining defects without sacrificing the nice finish we had with this process.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7369\/27336989523_ba2913f2cd_b.jpg\" alt=\"paint after initial test polishing\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The following before\/after photos show the results of\u00a0simply stepping up from a light cutting pad to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Meguiars-M43\/DA-Microfiber-Cutting-Disc-Buffing-Pad-P515\/55-S1\/\">cutting pad<\/a>. \u00a0Notice that all of the swirl marks have been removed, leaving a clear, defect free finish.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7345\/27916061946_4e18d8511b_b.jpg\" lights were in considerably worse shape than the paint. \u00a0These were corrected using Griot&#8217;s Garage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Griots-M56\/BOSS-Fast-Correcting-Cream-P1059\/16-oz-S1\/\">Fast Correcting Cream<\/a> on a Microfiber Cutting Pad, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Meguiars-M43\/Ultra-Finishing-Polish-205-P389\/32-oz-S1\/\">Meguiar&#8217;s M205<\/a> on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Lake-Country-M7\/White-Polishing-Pad-P57\/65-S1\/\">White Polishing Pad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7471\/27337809224_267d5c8f03_b.jpg\" alt=\"tail lights before correction\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7277\/27916061516_6bec61ccda_b.jpg\" alt=\"tail lights after correction\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 518 HP. 6.2 liter engine must be a lot of fun to drive, and the exhaust tips have plenty of build up on them to attest to that.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7364\/27873028291_e6f7389f46_b.jpg\" alt=\"exhaust tips before detail\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tips were polished using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Chemical-Guys-M31\/MetalWax-Ultra-Fine-Metal-Polish-Protection-P193\/16-oz-S1\/\">Chemical Guys Metal Polish<\/a>. \u00a0Ultra Fine #0000 Steel Wool was used on the heaviest build up along the inner edges, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Microfiber-M13\/Black-General-Purpose-Microfiber-Towel-P569\/16-x-16-S1\/\">black microfiber towel<\/a> was used to polish\u00a0the remaining surfaces. \u00a0They cleaned up quite nicely, despite some minor pitting in the surface.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7334\/27916061046_83cb3e23d4_b.jpg\" alt=\"exhaust tips before detail\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The wheels were removed for a proper cleaning as the large 6 piston front calipers put off a considerable amount of brake dust when bringing this 4,400 pound beast to a stop.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7520\/27916060896_c66f4fd708_b.jpg\" alt=\"wheels removed before cleaning\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/P21S-M14\/Gel-Wheel-Cleaner-P86\/500-ml-Kit-S1\/\">P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Stoner-M20\/Tarminator-P127\/14-oz-S1\/\">Stoner Tarminator<\/a>, and various brushes were used to make these wheels shine. \u00a0They were then cleaned thoroughly with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/CarPro-M53\/Eraser-Intensive-Oil-and-Polish-Cleaner-P603\/16-oz-S1\/\">CarPro Eraser<\/a> to prepare them for the coating process.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7299\/27916060596_603f911b4a_b.jpg\" alt=\"wheels cleaned up\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The wheels were airbrushed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/CarPro-M53\/DLUX-Plastic-and-Wheel-Coating-P940\/30-ml-S1\/\">CarPro DLUX<\/a> for excellent protection and easier maintenance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7097\/27671010800_e479cccaaf_b.jpg\" alt=\"wheels being sprayed with CarPro DLUX\" class=\"alignnone\"\/><\/p>\n<p>While we had the wheels off, the wheel wells were also lightly cleaned using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Meguiars-M43\/All-Purpose-Cleaner-D101-P378\/128-oz-S1\/\">Meguiar&#8217;s D101<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Optimum-OPT-M36\/No-Rinse-Wash-Shine-2010-Formula-P444\/32oz-S1\/\">Optimum No Rinse<\/a>. \u00a0The brake calipers were deep cleaned and coated with DLUX as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7382\/27916060346_560eb8eb88_b.jpg\" alt=\"brake calipers deep cleaned and coated with DLUX\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The paint was cleaned with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Isopropyl-Alcohol-P765\/70-16-oz-S1\/\">isopropyl alcohol<\/a> and then covered with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/22ple-M57\/VX3-Signature-Glass-Coating-P1039\/30-ml-S1\/\">22ple VX3 Signature Coating<\/a>. \u00a0The end result was an extremely good looking
