{"id":20209,"date":"2016-08-11T08:00:49","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T12:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=20209"},"modified":"2016-08-10T14:54:45","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T18:54:45","slug":"how-to-optimum-no-rinse-onr-detail-spray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/how-to-optimum-no-rinse-onr-detail-spray\/","title":{"rendered":"How To: Optimum No Rinse (ONR) Detail Spray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7354\/27793843210_8b3b6e00c0_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0050\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Detail spray is one of the most used items a detailer can use,\u00a0you can go through a lot of detail spray even during just one detail.\u00a0The list of uses for detail spray are endless and here are just some of the uses below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dust Removal<\/li>\n<li>Finger Print Removal<\/li>\n<li>Door Jamb Cleaner<\/li>\n<li>Window Cleaner<\/li>\n<li>Bird Bomb Removal<\/li>\n<li>Clay Lubricant<\/li>\n<li>Light Wheel Cleaning<\/li>\n<li>Dash Cleaning\/Dust Removal<\/li>\n<li>Interior Wipe down<\/li>\n<li>Drying Aid Lubricant<\/li>\n<li>Water Spot Removal<\/li>\n<li>Hard to Remove Wax\/Polish<\/li>\n<li>Pre Customer Inspection\/Pickup<\/li>\n<li>Polishing Pad Conditioner<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The need for a detail spray is significant in any detailers arsenal, no matter if you are a pro or\u00a0enthusiast. ONR detail spray is one of the most used items in my shop and it gets the job done while being\u00a0extremely cost effective for the following uses above.<\/p>\n<p>Today I am going to show how to make detail spray from the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Optimum-OPT-M36\/No-Rinse-Wash-Shine-2010-Formula-P444\/32oz-S1\/\">Optimum No Rinse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7299\/27460850554_0e0fe1375b_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0053\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Dilution<\/h2>\n<p>Here is what you need to get started (Due to the many uses I stated above we are going to make a gallon of ONR Quick Detailer)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Quick Detailer:<\/strong> ratio 1:16 or <em class=\"bbc\">8 oz\/1 gallon<\/em> or 240 ml to 3.84 liters for water (62.5 ml per liter)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clay lube:<\/strong> ratio 1:64 or <em class=\"bbc\">2 oz\/1 gallon <\/em>or 60 ml to 3.84 liters of water (15.6 ml per liter)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Please Note: If you do not want to make a complete gallon of ONR Quick Detail spray you here are the following dilution ratios for smaller bottles<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16oz bottle: 15oz distilled water 1 oz ONR concentrate.<\/li>\n<li>32oz bottle: 30oz distilled water 2oz ONR concentrate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1 gallon of distilled water (can also be found locally at any market, Improves product performance\u00a0drastically).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7367\/27793840440_512b53d731_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0061\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you poured your distilled water into your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Empty-Containers-P92\/128-oz-S1\/\">1 gallon container<\/a>, \u00a0you need to add 8oz of ONR concentrate to 120oz of distilled water. If you do not have measuring cups, you can use the cap that comes with your ONR. The cap is\u00a0approximately 0.5oz so you need to add 16 0.5 caps to make 8oz.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure when pouring your ONR, you do this over your gallon container to help reduce the chances of spilling any product. There is also a simple way to pour\/transfer your ONR<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7436\/28074447135_78c8b3980b_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0067\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I highly\u00a0recommend using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Dispenser-Bottles-P88\/8-oz-S2\/\">DI Dispenser Bottles<\/a>\u00a0to ensure that you do not spill or waste product while mixing\/adding the concentrate, as even when the tip is flipped open drips will only come out.<\/p>\n<p>These bottles also make it very easy to travel with if you are doing a mobile job.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7343\/27460846904_36fe0154b5_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0071\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you have poured your ONR concentrate put the cap on and shake\u00a0vigorously.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7401\/27460847984_b21b29fc1f_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0063\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you are ready to pour your detail spray in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Trigger-Spray-Bottle-P91\/32-oz-S2\/\">bottle\u00a0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7509\/27997246531_235799bf1a_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0079\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7251\/28074445935_576c78829e_b.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0074\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A quick tip that I\u00a0recommend is to have a little <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Pump-Spray-Bottle-P90\/4-oz-S1\/\">4oz Spray Bottle<\/a>\u00a0to keep in your car to clean bugs off the windshield or remove the dreaded bird bomb. I always keep a bottle in my car and it comes in extremely handy.<\/p>\n<p>Using ONR for a detail spray is very cost\u00a0effective for a pro and an enthusiast. ONR-QD is the detailers work horse for detail spray, as you can use it all day and not think twice about wasting product.<\/p>\n<p>ONR detail spray might not give you the gloss and slick feel that traditional detail sprays typically leave behind, however that is not\u00a0necessarily a bad thing as sometimes you just need a clean surface.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the best bang for your buck products you can buy as it has an endless list of uses.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions or comments leave them in the comment box below.
