{"id":2170,"date":"2010-06-15T19:36:17","date_gmt":"2010-06-15T23:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=2170"},"modified":"2010-06-15T19:36:17","modified_gmt":"2010-06-15T23:36:17","slug":"ask-a-pro-a-non-sling-tire-dressing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/ask-a-pro-a-non-sling-tire-dressing\/","title":{"rendered":"Ask-A-Pro: A Non-Sling Tire Dressing?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Dear Sirs:<\/p>\n<p>I am currently using a DP Tire Gloss on my car tires.\u00a0 It has a great shine and last for a long time, but as I drive, I notice that some of the gel is shooting on the side of my car and looks like oil discoloration.\u00a0 Of course, it wipes off, but I would like to use something that gave me a great shine, lasts long and does not splatter on the car.\u00a0\u00a0 I never drive the car immediately after my applying the gel-\u00a0 it is usually a day or 2 and it still does this.\u00a0 Also, I do not apply liberally-\u00a0 Just once over with a paint brush.<\/p>\n<p>What do you suggest?<\/p>\n<p>Thanks<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brian Sherwood<\/p>\n<p>PS&#8211;Of course- my car is black and shows everything!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr. Sherwood, I know your woes!<\/p>\n<p>I have found that even water-based gel&#8217;s like you have sling quite a bit.\u00a0 The answer: stay away from gels!\u00a0 Like you said, even if you are letting the gel &#8220;cure&#8221; on the tire for hours, even days, at a time, it will still sling!<\/p>\n<p>I would stick with a water-based spray tire dressing much like <a title=\"Optimum Tire Shine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Optimum-OPT-M36\/Tire-Shine-P282\/17-oz-S1\/\" target=\"_blank\">Optimum Tire Shine.<\/a> Pair this tire dressing with an applicator pad such as the <a title=\"Lake Country Tire Dressing Applicator\" href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Lake-Country-M7\/Tire-Dressing-Applicator-P63\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Country Tire Dressing Applicator <\/a>to help spread the tire dressing on evenly and thinly.<\/p>\n<p>Use about 1-2 sprays per tire on the applicator pad, apply it to the tire, let it dry for about 30 minutes or so, and then buff with a throw-away microfiber or terry cloth to keep the sling down to zero.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this helps a bit in the conquest towards shiny, sling free tires!<\/p>\n<p>If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to answer below<\/p>\n<p>Thanks,<\/p>\n<p>Aaron Baumann<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looking for a way to prevent tire dressing from slinging all over your freshly detailed car?
