{"id":22450,"date":"2017-08-23T08:00:53","date_gmt":"2017-08-23T12:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=22450"},"modified":"2017-09-14T11:35:41","modified_gmt":"2017-09-14T15:35:41","slug":"detailing-gone-bad-part-2-2013-audi-q7-s-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/detailing-gone-bad-part-2-2013-audi-q7-s-line\/","title":{"rendered":"Detailing Gone Bad (Part 2): 2013 Audi Q7 S-line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What are the odds that two (2) of the worst cars I have worked would come from the same owner. \u00a0I do want to point out however that in both instances, this damage was not caused when actually paying someone to detail their cars. \u00a0This 2013 Audi Q7 S-line was purchased on a rainy day by the owner from a dealership out of state. \u00a0This is one important lesson that most people should note, do not purchase a car on a rainy day from a dealership as you will not be able to see the true condition of the finish. \u00a0After having the car home for a few weeks and the typical dealership glaze job wore off, the same nightmare that was inflicted on their Tundra (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/detailing-gone-bad-2003-toyota-tundra\/\">Full Article Here<\/a>) was also present on this Audi.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few pictures of the vehicle just after being dropped off.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4158\/34445401650_6e11e4e17d_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The exterior was heavily lacking in gloss due to all the surface flaws present on the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4165\/34831808275_f24e3ba0dd_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Like most German cars, the wheels were heavily covered in brake dust.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4267\/34831808245_ba6303146f_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the vehicle thoroughly washed, chemically decontaminated\u00a0and washed one final time with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/NanoSkin-M54\/AutoScrub-Fine-Wash-Mitt-P701\/\">Nanoskin Wash Mitt<\/a> we could now see the true condition of the finish. \u00a0Here is a quick video that shows the driver side of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s1rtU1c4wmo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><em>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=s1rtU1c4wmo\">YouTube<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The vehicle was pulled in the shop and we started with our usual test spot, using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Rupes-M62\/Big-Foot-Random-Orbital-Polisher-P759\/LHR-15ES-15MM-S2\/\">Rupes 15 MKII<\/a> with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Griots-M56\/BOSS-Micro-Fiber-Pads-2-pack-P1064\/55-S1\/\">Griot&#8217;s Microfiber Cutting pad<\/a> and compound. \u00a0With a few moderate passes the results looked great, with only minor haziness or marring that required\u00a0cleaning up during the polishing process. \u00a0Once again we were not going for a flawless finish, just removing a majority of the defects and improving the gloss and clarity of this beautiful color.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4166\/34445402550_7d51448a9c_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the heavy swirling, holograms and light scratches removed the Teak Brown Metallic really came to life.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4202\/34445402340_00507b43f8_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the exterior fully\u00a0compounded and polished\u00a0the car was wiped down with Eraser to prep the surface for application of Gtechniq EXO V3. \u00a0I will do a more in-depth review on the application of the application of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/GTechniq-M70\/EXO-v2-Ultra-Durable-Hybrid-Coating-P865\/30-ml-S1\/\">EXO V3<\/a> in another blog.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4224\/34445402230_b6d9e1c47a_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The finished product turned out pretty amazing compared to what it started out like. \u00a0It went from looking like a vehicle that has 100,000+ miles on it (which it does) to a nearly new vehicle again.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4156\/34445402090_efa0807a11_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - DGB2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I really love the look of this color, and the depth and clarity it now has is simply outstanding. \u00a0Gtechniq EXO V3 did an amazing job putting the icing on the cake for this project.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4219\/34831808225_071a062f93_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG -
