{"id":22452,"date":"2017-11-27T08:00:13","date_gmt":"2017-11-27T13:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/?p=22452"},"modified":"2017-11-14T09:35:46","modified_gmt":"2017-11-14T14:35:46","slug":"product-review-gyeon-trim-q2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Ask-a-Pro\/product-review-gyeon-trim-q2\/","title":{"rendered":"Product Review: Gyeon Trim Q2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must admit that I have a trim coating fetish, and have tried many different brands. \u00a0I truly enjoy restoring trim to a nice deep black finish almost as much as I enjoy doing paint correction work on a severely neglected car. \u00a0Properly dressed trim is kind of like the icing on the cake when detailing a car. \u00a0So when Detailed Image picked up the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Gyeon-M91\/\">Gyeon line<\/a> I knew I had\u00a0to give <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Gyeon-M91\/Trim-P1412\/30-ml-S1\/\">Trim Q2<\/a> a try. \u00a0I just happened to be working on a 2012 Honda Civic Si with a few trim pieces that needed some attention. \u00a0As with many cars on the road today, after a few years the wiper cowls and trim pieces that are highly exposed to constant sun had begun to fade.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4155\/33632924544_99066e3685_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gyeon does a very nice job of packaging their products and include everything you need to complete the task. \u00a0Here is some info directly from the label of the product.<\/p>\n<h2>From The Label<\/h2>\n<div class=\"product-label-text\">\n<strong>Trim Q2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Permanent trim restorer.<\/li>\n<li>Hydrophobic coating for all types of plastic.<\/li>\n<li>High Self-Cleaning abilities.<\/li>\n<li>Prevents from oxidation.<\/li>\n<li>The coating is resistant to any chemicals from pH 2 up to 11.<\/li>\n<li>Recommended hand &amp; skin protection.<\/li>\n<li>Work in a ventilated area.<\/li>\n<li>Keep in a dark, dry &amp; cool place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4190\/33632923694_47f38748d0_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Included with the kit is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Gyeon-M91\/Applicator-Foam-Block-P1431\/\">foam applicator block<\/a>, a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Gyeon-M91\/Microfiber-Suede-P1432\/4-x-4-10-Pack-S1\/\">suede applicators<\/a>, a dropper, 30 ml bottle of the trim coating and a small instruction book (not shown in the above picture) as a guide for application of all their products.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4194\/34315229762_33e55a6dbb_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is the before photo of the wiper cowl, which you can see is quite faded. \u00a0As with any trim coating, the first thing you want to do is thoroughly clean the surface. \u00a0I like to use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/Einszett-1Z-M46\/Plastic-Deep-Cleaner-Plastik-Reiniger-P472\/500-ml-S1\/\">Nextzett Plastik Reiniger Plastic Deep Cleaner<\/a>, however an all purpose cleaner (APC) would work just fine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4164\/33665459613_295abd4748_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With a clean dry surface, you are ready to begin application of the coating. \u00a0Using the dropper supplied with the kit, apply a few drops of the applicator pad and you&#8217;re ready to apply. \u00a0This product has a pretty long work time. \u00a0You will instantly see the difference in color, restoring the trim to a nice deep rich black color.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4193\/33632922614_f77efc285a_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A closer view of the before and after finish on the cowl. \u00a0I like to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detailedimage.com\/DI-Accessories-M12\/Foam-Cleaning-Swabs-P1527\/Rectangle-S-50x-S3\/\">Foam Cleaning Swabs<\/a> for applying the coating in the tighter areas, such as the sections on the front of the wiper cowl.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4166\/33665458853_92c7de20c3_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG - Gyeon Trim\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The finished product speaks for itself. \u00a0 Gyeon Trim took this faded cowl, returning it to a like new finish that will remain for months if not years to come.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4251\/34832110595_3e2473cd0e_b.jpg\" alt=\"KMG -
