These are suggestions for those considering using ceramic coating for areas of their car other than the paint surfaces.<\/p>\n

For those using wheel coatings<\/a>, I have a reminder for you.\u00a0 It really is a good maintenance and protection option to slow down brake dust that on some wheels can degrade the quality of your wheels.\u00a0 Application wise make sure you follow the directions 100%.\u00a0 No movement of the car at all during the initial curing time.\u00a0 The reason for this is any brake dust created with the use of brakes can get into the coating and become trapped between the coating and wheels in its infant stages.\u00a0 This is something that may not happen in most cases, especially in the latter part of the initial cure, but safer than sorry.\u00a0 I would like you to not have red specs in your coating that will be tricky or a real pain to remove until the coating wears off.<\/p>\n

Just like I would suggest maintaining the rest of your car, do not become seduced by the illusion of no maintenance.\u00a0 Like the rest of your car, there is a benefit to a rinse off of the car with a hose or pressure washer.\u00a0 But like the rest of the exterior of your car, a contact wash is going to be necessary at some point for your wheels.\u00a0 Grime and break dust, albeit slower, is going to still build up.\u00a0 Aside from the unsightly appearance of your wheels, affect the ceramic coating.\u00a0 Neglecting or doing minimal maintenance (real washing) will in the long run deliver diminishing returns.\u00a0 Also like your paint, mineral deposit (water spotting) build up will happen with your wheels.<\/p>\n

When it comes to trim and also headlights, ceramic coating them immediately is a great benefit to you.\u00a0 Gyeon Trim<\/a> something in hindsight if I knew what this product was when I got my first car, I would have coated my trim and headlights with it.\u00a0 It can restore a darkening affect to the trim.\u00a0 But it is better to have the preventative maintenance than have a great restorative use for it.\u00a0 Same with headlights; preventative UV protection over new headlights is much better than the band-aid of coating over restored headlights.<\/p>\n

Glass coatings<\/a> are known for the benefits of visually appealing and safer driving in rain, with water droplets flying off of your windshield at speeds of 40 mph.\u00a0 Ease of cleaning is often forgotten, which is something people complain about the most with windows.\u00a0\u00a0 Wiper blade replacement will not be necessary as quickly either on coated windshield.<\/p>\n

For window coating applications, you want a surgically clean surface.\u00a0 For me, that means wash, clay, and (depending on the product) polish to make sure anything stuck on the glass is removed.\u00a0 It can be a quick polish by hand.\u00a0 Similar to an oxidized paint where you are removing proverbially dead skin from the surface, I recommend polishing windshield prior to most window coatings.\u00a0 You are likely not correcting or abrading the surface.\u00a0 This is actually for topical polishing, a deep clean of the automotive glass with polish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
