I am interested in more than just your encouraging and ad nauseam diatribe on how a company’s coating is superior to all, whether it is or it isn’t.\u00a0 I am interested in extracting practical information as a detailer and business owner.<\/p>\n
What if I am in trouble?\u00a0 What do I do when a coating application does not go or is starting to not go as planned?\u00a0 If I suspect my efforts have led to high spots, what are the steps to address the situation within certain time windows?<\/p>\n
What were the metrics that led to said durability claims?\u00a0I could technically say a lot of 1, 2, 3, or 4 year coatings will theoretically last for 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, or 12 years.\u00a0 If you do not know how they come up with their durability ratings how can you communicate it, when they are saying or thinking about the other guy that says theirs will last to infinity and beyond.\u00a0 Also if sharing that is an issue, it may be a red flag against the company you partner with.<\/p>\n
Then there are questions to ask yourself.<\/p>\n
How long has this company been in business?\u00a0 The answer should not be a deal breaker as I am accredited by two new businesses who inspired my confidence in them.\u00a0 What are the (fine print) details of this warranty if they have one.\u00a0 I also think that warranties for coatings are often overrated and disingenuous in how they are presented to you as a selling point.\u00a0 But I also believe in keeping an open mind.\u00a0 How accessible is the representative or owner?\u00a0 The ultimate question you seek clarity on is are you a number or a person that they have a vested interest in you enjoying a long term partnership with them.<\/p>\n
Are they a little too eager for you to partner with them?\u00a0 Exactly what you think I mean. But there is more to this from experience.\u00a0 On the surface do they present themselves as an exclusive club, while making it incredibly easy with minimal vetting for you to be one of their installers.\u00a0 Does it feel like they say the same things to all of the potential installers, because they probably do.<\/p>\n
Do their claims align with your values?\u00a0 I get the life time coating concept.\u00a0 But the main description of this is off putting.\u00a0 Some coating companies are still boasting outlandish claims that you may have to answer for with your customers.\u00a0 Something to think about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
