As an intro I do believe the issues people have with user experience and durability are attributed to a lack of interest in following directions, a lack of appreciation for detailing, and a false narrative that more product is always better.\u00a0 These are common complaints with ceramic infused products.\u00a0 I do believe this is because (maybe you the reader) it attracts a crowd that wants the most instant (cheap and fast) gratification for car care.\u00a0 Also, for those in that category that want to say they have some ceramic on their paint.<\/p>\n

First a history lesson.\u00a0 For those that have had mixed results with this product and some other newer ceramic infused products, I want to offer you a perspective on how technology has evolved.<\/p>\n

Collinite is a company that has been known for decades by car enthusiasts as a company that produces unique waxes.\u00a0 A cult favorite by detailing connoisseurs before ceramic coatings became very popular and moved more towards the mainstream.\u00a0 The waxes (if you could call it as such) had two unusual features.\u00a0 They were unusually challenging to use for products that had a popular following among enthusiasts who also enjoyed boutique waxes and sealants.\u00a0 But their other attribute is what set the brand apart, a wax with the durability that outperformed most sealants.\u00a0 Waxes that lasted for several months to nearly a year on occasion.<\/p>\n

A common albeit controversial combination made two companies even more popular.\u00a0 Collinite Insulator Wax was often used as a topper with the original (non SI02 formula) Jescar Paint Sealant.\u00a0 The results reported were of greater durability as well as an enhanced and unique look, versus either product alone.\u00a0 The controversy came from some reports of the products rejecting each other and not fully setting.\u00a0 It was often deemed a worthy risk for enthusiasts who like to play around with their cars, but not necessarily a viable option for professionals who do not want to explain potentially why there is a weird looking haze on their client’s car.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to a new SI02 spray formulation.\u00a0 Collinite 100 Beadcoat Ceramic Paint Protection<\/a> among others has received rave reviews from some enthusiasts who are used to detailing and used to using a lot of boutique products.\u00a0 I have used this and some of the newer spray on products on not so ideal settings with success.<\/p>\n

In addition to praise, there have been many complaints and frustrations uttered.\u00a0 Some of the complaints are often more generalized at SI02 sealants.\u00a0 Ease of use.\u00a0 And on a side note, I hope in 2025 you know the difference between a sealant that has the word ceramic (SI02) and an actual glass coating that is in a bottle (not made of plastic).\u00a0 Some outliers have mentioned the durability not being as long as many others have lauded.\u00a0 More on that in a second.\u00a0 From my experience with this product and another that received criticism, I found it to be a much easier and user friendly product.\u00a0 I preferred these and other recent ceramic infused sprayed products to those popular waxes in addition to other popular ceramic infused spray sealants.<\/p>\n

I am going to give an honest critique to the average consumer who is having a poor user experience.\u00a0 When I read the instructions, it was quite self explanatory to me.\u00a0 Wash the surface.\u00a0 Make sure you clay the car.\u00a0 Detailing!\u00a0 In other words, not just regularly washing and spraying this on the surface.\u00a0 Spray a certain amount, not excessive amount on the surface.\u00a0 Let it set in dry conditions.\u00a0 I question whether all or any of this is being done by the critiques.\u00a0 Often the superior products need more (a detailing prep) process to work effectively.<\/p>\n

One suggestion when in doubt, spray onto towel.\u00a0 When in doubt, use one less spray.\u00a0 Discourage yourself even more from spraying on towel as you work your way around the car, as product will naturally build up.<\/p>\n

I even intentionally tested this product under non ideal circumstances, to assist those in trouble.\u00a0 I tried to leave streaks, by using a thin towel (use a plush towel) and applying this product in the Florida heat.<\/p>\n

If you get streaks.\u00a0 Take another dry towel and wipe.\u00a0 If it continues to be a problem, take a separate towel and with one spray on the microfiber towel and wipe the streak away.\u00a0 The carrier solvents in the sealant will reactivate the excess product on the car which is the streaking you see.<\/p>\n
