It is more than just about the number or even average of the stars.<\/p>\n<p>If I present the following which one seems better?\u00a0 You see 40 reviews in which a majority state something like this, &#8220;great best prices&#8217;, or nothing at all with 5 stars.\u00a0 You read on another business page 30 reviews with several stating something like this; &#8220;I have been going to X Company for several years.\u00a0 They take great care of my cars.\u00a0 The coating has held up and the experience always exceeds my expectations and I am probably one of the pickier persons.\u00a0 Communication is always great.\u00a0 They treat my daily driver with the same care as my weekend car.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>How often do you READ these reviews?\u00a0 There is a detailer for almost everyone.\u00a0 But many may not be for you.\u00a0 In today&#8217;s time, many of those reviews may suggest this is a great business for someone else or vise versa.\u00a0 Much of the feedback often speaks to the needs of the clients the business caters to.\u00a0 The quality and number of reviews may be fraudulent to some extent.\u00a0 Some of the negative reviews could be a malicious attack by an outside party.\u00a0 It is an unfortunate reality many businesses face.\u00a0 Much of this can be spotted if you read, and put effort into your search.<\/p>\n<h2>Myth: Detail Is A Detail, Or Is It?<\/h2>\n<p>There is a reason why you will never hear me use the phrase full detail in my offerings.\u00a0 I can get 100 different assumptions from 100 different people.\u00a0 Yet the word detail, consumers think we should know automatically what you want when you ask, &#8216;detail how much?&#8217;\u00a0 Or worse, assume based off price what that includes.\u00a0 If you think someone, who is probably charging more appropriately than the other guy, is being unreasonable make a house call for a plumber.\u00a0 You should see the hourly rate for a plumber to use a plunger for less than an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps some people enjoy complaining, but I do not think addressing expectations after the fact is good for either party.\u00a0 Instead of assuming and expecting 1 out of 100,000 unique businesses to perform detailing EXACTLY the way or the standard in which you envision it, you get an opportunity to not be disappointed.\u00a0 Reading, asking questions, or discussing in depth what bothers you or excites you about your car is a much better plan.\u00a0 Again why many of us do not give you a price immediately over the phone.\u00a0 We want to be on the same page.\u00a0 We also have to protect ourselves as a business too.<\/p>\n<h2>Your Attitude About Service Providers<\/h2>\n<p>If you were looking for medical care or any serious issue, how would you approach finding the right provider?\u00a0 The difference in that approach versus finding a detail, addresses and answers the problem 90 percent of people have finding a QUALITY detailing business.\u00a0 It also colors all of the other problems that are in plain sight.<\/p>\n<p>There are minimal (no real) regulations in this industry.\u00a0 The consequences of this (the wild west) have been an ongoing frustration for most passionate and honest business owners that we deal with as best as we know how to.\u00a0 But with all sincerity, I believe it is a bigger problem for you.\u00a0 It is a problem if you care.\u00a0 You may genuinely be open to the concept that skilled professionals command a high price for your needs.\u00a0 But you may also be influenced by the numerous people (if not yourself) that mock the idea that detailing is a luxury service.\u00a0 In 2025 unfortunately, many more mock the idea that it is not a one size fits all experience.\u00a0 This lately has been problematic with ceramic coatings.\u00a0 People ask the question without context, &#8220;Ceramic, how much?&#8221;\u00a0 That is a problem in and of itself.\u00a0 Can you imagine going to a nice restaurant and asking the waiter, &#8220;how much for food?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, those questions without context are meaningless and frustrating to most professionals.\u00a0 I am not exaggerating at all.\u00a0 It is masked due to many businesses accept the difficulty of consumers being open (patient) to have an intelligent dialogue.\u00a0 So they guess as best they can with incomplete information.\u00a0 Do you see a problem here!\u00a0 4 weeks later, hey random guys on the internet I got this service should I be upset?\u00a0 People will respond with their also biased experience.\u00a0 The irony is we criticize ourselves for not setting expectations with our clients.\u00a0 But we also criticize ourselves for not making it oversimplified and just giving a price, for those that rarely understand how expensive running a business is for people who sometimes have expectations.\u00a0 A catch 22 situation.<\/p>\n<p>I am a little bit of an outlier.\u00a0 My STARTING pricing is shown.\u00a0 The irony is many price shoppers are often the least likely to put effort to read that far in 2025.\u00a0 I have been called many derogatory names for how I try to explain a service and starting price over the phone, to impatient people.\u00a0 Maybe I should change, maybe I am the problem.\u00a0 If you ask some of my recent clients, they went out of their way to thank me for my transparency and thoroughness.\u00a0 They also told me repeatedly how great my website is with respect to providing content.\u00a0 They also told me they looked into other multiple other businesses who were quicker to give numbers and try to book.\u00a0 I
