Make Sure Your New Microfiber Towels Are Safe For Use
Don’t overlook caring and inspecting your microfiber towels. In most cases you should wash your microfiber towels upon receiving them. And then inspect the towels. Many times, whether shipped or taking from the washer, I found embedded debris in the fibers. Wash and dry them properly. Also store them properly. Let’s stop pretending microfibers towels are not absorbent. Your car can be dusty in less than a week without driving. Why would you leave your microfiber towels out in a similar environment? I store mine in ziploc bags.
Put Your Money On The Non Glamorous Things
Don’t be that guy or girl with a $4,000 worth of polishers and pressure washers, and then miss on the fundamental things that are really important. A $2 microfiber towel should not be on your paint. Don’t try to put the cheapest pad on a $800 polisher, while wondering why the results are not there.
Black Paint Usually Is Not As Bad As People Think
If you are doing the things you were supposed to do in general, the detailing and maintenance is not going to be as difficult as some would lead you to be. By that, you know some of the steps taken when polishing or just washing, that are mocked by people as ‘wasting time and money.’ The consequences of taking the easy way out are obvious on black paint. In short if you do not try to get a two-step polishing detail out of one step, you often will be fine. If you wash your car with the understanding that paint is sensitive, you will be fine. I am not saying there are no outliers. I am not saying it will not be more difficult per say to keep the appearance pristine to more eyes. But the issue of black paint is incredibly exaggerated and an indictment of cheap/fast detailers, as well as careless owners who realize why soak, we pre-rinse, and use more than one bucket for the paint.
A Good Set Of Rested Eyes
With the help of the best technology you can afford, taking a moment or break can help you see your car differently. I use Scangrip lighting for the record.
I know time is money, but there is a reason why a car with the same service description looks (short and long term) different from someone who takes 5 hours and someone who takes 2 days. If your schedule will not allow it, be honest with yourself with how you break up a detail.
