If there is one thing that is pretty much universal with iron removers, it is the horrible smell. Gtechniq W6 Iron & Fallout Remover is no exception, but honestly, I wanted to get that out of the way first. I am willing to put up with the stink because Fallout simply works and works extremely well.
The first thing you notice when it hits an iron-contaminated surface is that familiar color changing reaction. It is especially satisfying when you can see all of that embedded iron contamination being pulled out of the surface, changing from a clear/yellow spray to a deep purple running down the surface.
Don’t let the iron tag and color changing fool you though, as Gtechniq formulated this product to tackle brake dust and standard dirt and grime as well. With some agitation from a set of wheel brushes, the cleaner was able to get into the areas where brake dust and road grime like to hang around, making the rinse-off noticeably easier.
That combination is what makes this product stand out to me. You get the iron-removing action that you would expect from a dedicated fallout remover, but it also pulls its weight when it comes to general wheel cleaning. It is not a case of spraying it on and expecting it to magically do everything (a little agitation goes a long way), but the product has become one of my preferred wheel cleaners. Overall, the Gtechniq Iron & Fallout Remover has earned a spot in my detailing lineup. The visible iron reaction, strong cleaning ability, and performance on wheels make it a product I would happily reach for when dealing with fallout, brake dust, and stubborn grime. Just bring your wheel brushes…and maybe hold your nose while you are at it.
