This is not necessarily an advertisement for Scangrip. Get the best value you can afford for your needs. It does not matter to me what resources that you utilize. The point is to put effort into what you deem a quality set of products for your budget. I do think Scangrip is a solid option if you are not sure what brand of lights to purchase. Although I use Scangrip primarily, I have one criticism, which has been all too common amongst companies, who pride themselves on innovation. I owned one of their original Scangrip models. The very unique battery charger failed due to degradation of wire connection. There was no replacement part available, as they moved on to newer models. I do wish companies would put themselves in a position to better take care of consumers in that respect, especially for parts that realistically will need replacement.
Taking advantage of professional lighting is important with respect to us performing our detailing tasks, but also the convenience of saving time. Understanding color temperature and having a light that can provide those options, is important when you are concerned about locating microscopic defects on different colored cars. Diffusion options are important for two main reasons (although there are other benefits). Diffused light shows ceramic coating high spots more easily oftentimes. But it can also help you spot a deeper defect, when your eyes are distracted by swirls.
If you are in the process of finding or building a brick and mortar shop, how will the lighting be set up? What kind of lights? What location will they be with respect to the building and particularly where vehicles will be worked on? Will they conflict or compliment other lighting used? Film lighting, which can be Scangrip or a separate collection of LED lighting, is important for content creation.
Speaking of film lighting and detailing lighting, understanding the importance of taking light away will make you better at your craft. It will make you a better detailer, it will make your content more aesthetically pleasing, and it will allow your audience to better understand what is going on.
