Product Review and Application: 22ple VX3 Signature Glass Coating

22ple is the first brand of coating I started using a few years back and I’ve always been impressed with it.  It was extremely easy to apply and the durability was as advertised.  A few months back we started using the new 22ple VX3 Signature Glass Coating and I was very happy to see that it only got better.  Using it was still very easy, but the timing to wipe off is a lot more consistent in varying temperatures.  It used to be anywhere from 3 minutes when warm to 8-10+ when cold, now it’s usually 3-6 minutes regardless of temperature.  It also now has an effect while drying that easily shows the product on the paint making it easier to see high spots and wipe them off on time.  I have yet to test the durability for anything more than 3 months, but it’s holding up great on a client’s car at 3 months and that was done without proper prep (applied straight on top of polish, no alcohol wipe down) for testing purposes.

In any case, this article is meant to give the 22ple VX3 a bit of a “good job!” and also show via many photos how it looks before, during and after application/removal.  So without further ado, onto the photos…

Here is a very old Chevy with single stage black paint.  We corrected the paint with one stage of polishing and applied VX3 for protection…

A few drops on the applicator pad to start…

I’m starting here in the middle of the hood with the intent to do the quarter of it.  You can see the small area to which I already applied some product is already showing the “new” characteristic of 22ple.  It has a rainbow effect that starts a few seconds after the product is applied, so it’s extremely easy to see it even in poor lighting or lighter paint colors…

Here you can see how the look changes a bit as the product dries…

After about 4 minutes, it was time to wipe off.  VX3 is VERY easy to wipe off.  We normally use one side of the towel for the initial wipe and then follow with a clean side right after for a final wipe.  This is a waste sometimes because even the one initial wipe removes all residue easily.

Below is the same process shown but a bit closer and on the fender of the same car.  Applied liberally but not too thick…

After about 10-15 seconds…

~3 minutes…

This is how the product looks when I simply wiped it once with a towel.  Not trying to wipe it off with one side of the towel, rather only gave it one wipe from left to right…

A quick few wipes with the same side of the towel removed all the residue and leaves a nice and shiny surface…

Lastly, I took some photos of us applying VX3 to a red Porsche, but in these there’s a direct LED light on the paint to show how it looks as it dries…

Right after application…

Starting to dry and change into all the wonderful colors :)…

Easily seen on pure red paint…

Here I wanted to experiment a bit and see how far I could push it before I run into trouble with removal…

But even at 8.5 minutes, it wipe off effortlessly and left a nice perfect finish.  There are many deep scratches in the paint as it’s extremely thin and we didn’t want to polish too much on any of these cars…

All in all, 22ple VX3 Signature Glass Coating is another great product from 22ple and we have been using it regularly ever since first trying it out.  I hope to get 1-1.5 years of durability out of it, so anything more will be a nice surprise.  One of the best things is that VX3 is even more affordable than the rest of the 22ple products, so it’s great for the DIY enthusiast who wants to protect their vehicle well.

Hope this is a bit educational to some and thanks as always for reading.
