The DI Boar’s Hair Brush is a staple in my detailing arsenal, I have three. One of these brushes is delegated for interior work, the second is for wheels, and the final one I use on trim and emblems. Three of the same product?! I use each three brushes differently as I don’t want any cross contamination from the brush to the surface I am cleaning. In addition all three brushes use different products, and we don’t want wheel cleaner on an interior vent. It is gentle enough to touch paint without damage, and amazing for interior dusting jobs, in vents and hard to reach places.
One area, I feel it may be too soft for is the lug nuts. It is soft, and may not create enough agitation to completely remove the stubborn dirt that can be there. For a simple yet effective fix, wrap a rubber band around the bristles, basically shortening them, all while keeping the shape of the tip of the bristles.
If you look, the tip of the brush has a nice, almost cone-like shape. If we were to cut them shorter we would lose that. This can allow for a slightly more aggressive brush that is still safe. It basically makes the hairs shorter without cutting the brush, allowing for better agitation, and still maintaining a soft brush. Enjoy.
