Gyeon quartz Q² Tire: Best Practices

This article is written by Jeff McEachran, GYEON quartz USA National Brand Manager and Owner of Denver Auto Shield.

I wanted to take some time today and discuss the best procedure for applying and getting the most performance out of Gyeon quartz Q² Tire. Q² Tire is an SiO2 based tire gel that is designed to leave a healthy matte finish while helping the tire reject dirt and contaminant. It is very simple to use, but a few tips and tricks in terms of application might help you get a bit more out of each application.

Today we’re applying Q² Tire to a 2013 BMW M3 wearing Michelin Pilot Sports that are definitely not new but not in terrible shape.

First, clean the tire well with your favorite APC or something like Gyeon quartz Q²M Bug & Grime. It is important to remove any existing dressing and leave a clean rubber surface to apply Q² Tire. We performed this step during the initial wash process followed by Q² Iron on the wheels and then blown dry with the MasterBlaster.

Any applicator will work, but I like to use the Gyeon Foam Applicator Blocks from my coating kits. Apply a moderate amount of Q² Tire on to the foam applicator. You can apply directly to the tire or spread the product out a bit first by blotting about half the tire.

I like to “scrub” Q² Tire multi-directionally in to the surface to make sure I get all of the cracks and crevices in the design of the tire. I’ll go on heavier than necessary to make sure I have adequate coverage, allow it to dry for as long as it takes me to get around all 4 tires, and then come back and wipe up any excess product.

Once I have Q² Tire applied to all 4 tires I will go back with the heat gun and dry them out completely for a healthy satin finish.

That’s it!

  1. Clean the tire well with an APC
  2. Make sure the surface is completely dry before applying
  3. Apply liberally making sure to cover all areas of the tire design
  4. Allow to dry for the time it takes to move around all 4 tires
  5. Wipe off any excess
  6. Apply heat to speed up the drying process

I’d love to hear how Q² Tire is working for you guys and answer any questions below!
