Ferrari 550 Maranello Detail: Paint Protection Film & Coating Project – Pt 1

Ferrari 550 Maranello Detailed

Once in a while, someone asks me to talk over ideas on a car that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The Ferrari 550 Maranello is one of those cars for me. There is something about the lines of the body, the naturally aspired v12 and gated 6-speed manual gearbox that flaunts modern-classic Ferrari GT car to me. The years of production likely play a role in my seeing this car as I do as I saw it as a dream car in my final teen years (familiar theme for anyone else?).

This car, in particular, is owned by someone who had seen our work on display at our local Caffeine and Exotics car show (learn more about that here). His concept of fully enjoying the car was to drive it whenever he got the urge and he wanted it to look gorgeous along the way. It wasn’t to be a garage queen and yet, he wanted the peace of mind that the little things wouldn’t keep him from taking it out. After consulting with him over the car, we decided on a path that would hit all the marks without being overly intrusive and compromise the integrity of the original nature of the car.

In the following video, I will walk you through some of the nuances of this project. I hope you can sit back and enjoy some of the details of what she was to go through! Soon, I’ll share part 2 which will review the final fit and finish of this sizable project.
