Projects: How to Protect your C8 Corvette Stingray

Wondering how to protect your new C8 Corvette Stingray? We recently had an Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic C8 Corvette in the workshop for one of our curated protection packages. This service combines the benefits of clear bra and ceramic coating to get the very best protection and aesthetics. This particular service is designed with one specific goal in mind- to allow the client to drive more and worry less. Each product has a purpose- the clear bra stops rock chips, the ceramic coating creates a brilliant finish and an easy to clean surface and together aid in helping retain that new car appearance.

Stage 1: Preparation

The goal of doing the wash process was to remove all dirt and grime preparing the paint and various surfaces for the paint correction stage.

• Wheel Cleaning Tools: Sonax The Beast Wheel Cleaner, EZ Detail Brush, CarPro XL Detailing Brush
• Chemical Decontamination: CarPro IronX
• Mechanical Decontamination: Clay Magic Fine Grade Clay Bar
• Drying Tools: Metro Vac Master Blaster Revolution

Stage 2: Paint Correction

During this phase we dialed in a process to rid the factory finish of any random minor scratching and sanding marks.

• Machine: Rupes BigFoot 21MM, Rupes LHR 75E Mini
• Lights: Scangrip Sunmatch 4
• Compound/Pad: Rupes DA Course, Meguiar’s Microfiber Cutting Disc
• Polish/Pad: Oberk Sole Medium One Step Polish, Rupes Fine Polishing Yellow Pad 
• Post Correction Wipe Down: CarPro Eraser 

Stage 3: XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF Preparation and Installation

Before any XPEL PPF was installed we rewashed the C8, removing any polishing dust. We followed that up with multi wipe downs of CarPro Eraser.
