3 Things For New Detailing Busness Owners To Look At
by Rodney TatumI am not going to start by saying ‘if you are a real detailer, you should blah blah blah’ all these things. That is obnoxious, for one! Those people likely have not experienced business success my peers aspire to, or they would find better things to do with their time. Also, likewise they too are probably overrating their own detailing acumen.
Roll down the windows partially after washing. You will likely see a line. I have missed that many times. Many people do.

Blow and vacuum under seats. I recommend some kind of blower or compressed air to blast areas you cannot easily see.

To this day, I have had a moment where it is forgotten. The gas cap. I do not think this is some kind of horrible error by any stretch of imagination. But it is not only an opportunity to make a very noticeable difference, it is a detail that can really set you apart.

Conclusion, life is not going to end if you are not perfect or the greatest detailer. Also, as particular as I am about my car, most people who pay good money are more concerned about two things. Blatantly being incompetent, particularly regarding DAMAGING a car. The other is integrity and professionalism. Being cheaper is not going to save you from and probably encourage a picky customer. A major reason why no one talks about it is their perception of you versus actual care about their car. They don’t really care about their car that much, compared to the less picky enthusiasts willing to spend more. Their anger at every little detail missed or perceived missed has more to do with their animosity that they any more at all than at one of the cheapest car washes. That is why they also simultaneously may complain about it taking so long while demanding better results than a disaster makeover.
That is why many of us say, if you are dealing with a lot of this nonsense, do the counterintuitive thing by raising your price.
