When it comes to cleaning glass, the towel you use can make a bigger difference than you might expect. The Autofiber Smooth Glass Flip Towels have quickly become one of my favorite glass towels and a lot of that comes down to their unique design. Rather than being just another microfiber towel, Autofiber designed the Smooth Glass Flip to give you multiple cleaning surfaces in one.

The Perfect Size for Glass Cleaning

Measuring 8″ x 8″, this towel is large enough to cover a good amount of glass but small enough to remain extremely easy to maneuver. I really like this size for windshield cleaning because it gives you plenty of coverage without being too large to handle.

The smaller footprint also makes it easier to maintain consistent pressure across the entire towel. Most people can comfortably keep their hand over (or in) the majority of the towel, allowing you to apply even pressure as you work across the glass. That simply means more consistent and efficient cleaning, especially when working through stubborn fingerprints, film, dirt, grime, and more.

The construction really sets the Smooth Glass Flip apart. The towel is double sided, with a twist-weave (long nap) on one side and a dedicated glass-cleaning microfiber (short nap) on the other. In a way, it is like taking two different glass towels, folding them together, and stitching them into one convenient tool.

The twist-weave side provides a different feel and cleaning action, while the glass microfiber side is ideal for wiping and finishing the glass. I like to spray my glass cleaner onto the surface or long nap and really clean as much contamination as I can. Follow up with the shorter side to remove any residual dirt, grime and cleaner, to finish down to a streak free finish.

A Pocket for your Hand or the Reacher Tool

The stitching that holds the two sides together creates the built in pocket that we mentioned before. Your hand slides directly into the pocket, giving you a secure way to hold the towel while cleaning.

This makes the Smooth Glass Flip feel less like a traditional microfiber towel and more like a loose fitting mitt. The pocket helps keep the towel positioned where you want it and helps you keep more of the towel in contact with the glass surface.

But the pocket is not just useful for hand cleaning. It also works exceptionally well with the Autofiber Reacher Tool. Simply slide the end of the Reacher into the pocket and you have an extended glass cleaning tool that makes reaching difficult areas of the windshield much easier. This is particularly useful along the bottom of the windshield or other areas where your hand or body does not naturally fit.

Conclusion

There are plenty of good glass towels available, but the Smooth Glass Flip stands out because it approaches glass cleaning differently. The compact 8″ x 8″ size, two unique cleaning surfaces, and integrated pocket all work together to create a towel that is incredibly versatile.

For me, the ability to use it directly by hand or pair it with the Autofiber Reacher Tool is the biggest advantage. It is a simple design, but it solves a common problem and makes cleaning difficult to reach glass much easier.
