When it comes to eliminating odors, there are plenty of products that simply cover up smells with stronger fragrances. Bio-Bombs takes a different approach by offering products that are designed to neutralize and eliminate odors while providing fresh, clean scent options to use after the odors have been eliminated. I was able to test out several of their most popular products and I find myself very happy with each item I have tried.

What I like most about Bio-Bombs is that they offer products for every interior service or scent problem you are looking to fix. Whether you need to remove odors from your carpet, headliner, seats, dashboard, center console, or even your HVAC system, there is a product for it. Each product is straightforward to use and they work as advertised.

Below is a closer look at each Bio-Bombs product I have used and how I recommend using them.

Mini Dissolvable Cleaning & Deodorizing Tablets

These tablets are incredibly versatile and one of my favorite products simply because they are so convenient. Instead of storing multiple ready to use cleaners, you simply dissolve a tablet in water to create a cleaning and deodorizing solution. They are great for light interior cleaning, wiping down hard surfaces and they do not take up much space for storage. The only con here is this product does have a strong chlorine smell when used, so I only recommend using this product when you are targeting odors on carpets, upholstery, hard plastics and trim, headliners, etc. Think of this as a product to target a specific area that needs direct odor removal.

Chlorine dioxide is not a fragrance or cover-up scent. It is a selective oxidizing agent used for odor control because it can react with many odor-causing compounds at the molecular level.

That matters because many odor problems are not just floating in the air. They are attached to surfaces, absorbed into materials, trapped in fibers, or hiding in the source area.

When a Mini dissolves in water, it creates a chlorine dioxide solution that can be sprayed, wiped, boosted into a cleaner, or pushed deeper with tools like a steamer, extractor, air gun, or Tornador.

When chlorine dioxide contacts many odor-causing compounds, it can oxidize them by altering their electron structure. That chemical change can transform the original odor compound into something with a different odor profile, or something your nose no longer reads the same way.

How to Use

• Fill a 32 ounce spray bottle with water.
• Add one tablet to the bottle.
• Allow it to fully dissolve, shaking as necessary.
• Spray onto the desired surface and wipe clean with a microfiber towel.
• Allow the treated area to dry fully.
• Store mixed solution for up to 14 days.

The Bio-Bombs Vehicle Deodorization Kit is designed for vehicles with stronger, more persistent odors. Instead of simply masking smells, it works to eliminate odors throughout the entire cabin, making it an excellent option after purchasing a used vehicle, dealing with smoke odors, pet smells, food spills, or moisture related odors.

The kit comes with everything you need to get started and application is very easy.

Directly from Bio-Bombs:

The VDK releases chlorine dioxide gas inside the closed vehicle cabin. Gas matters because vehicle odor does not only sit on the surfaces you can reach. It moves through the airspace, vents, fabrics, carpet, headliner, trunk, seatbelt fibers, and under-seat areas.

Because the VDK uses CIO2 as a gas, it can disperse through the enclosed cabin and contact odor compounds in places sprays, wipes, and normal cleaning may not reach.

How to Use

• Remove any obvious sources of odor and vacuum the interior to remove any debris, trash, etc.
• Position the deodorization product according to the included instructions. I laid a microfiber towel in my center console and placed the container directly into the cup holder.
• Add water to the fill line
• Drop the VDK tablet into the jar.
• Exit the vehicle and do not open doors until after treatment is completed
• Open all of the doors and let the vehicle air out for 10-15 minutes

For neglected interiors or stubborn smells, this is one of the most effective options in the Bio-Bombs lineup. However, just like the Mini Dissolvable Cleaning & Deodorizing Tablets, this product will leave a chlorine smell on the surface. A few sprays of distilled water will help pull some of that smell from the surface, but this is something you should be aware of and something I only recommend using if you are removing strong odors.

Oxygenator Aerator

The Oxygenator Aerator is designed to improve odor elimination by helping distribute oxygen throughout the water during treatment with the Vehicle Deodorization Kit. While it is not a product everyone will use I highly recommend pairing it with your VDK as it improves performance and greatly reduces overall deodorization time.

Odor Control Granules

The Odor Control Granules provide continuous odor absorption, making them perfect for enclosed spaces where unwanted smells tend to linger. They work well inside vehicles, storage areas, garages, trailers, RVs, or anywhere moisture and odors can become trapped. These are little granular bags that you can just toss into these areas. They do not have a fragrance, but they will help pull odors out of the air over time.

These are useful products, but I do not see myself reaching for them often. If you care for the interior of your vehicle the product options listed above help remove odors and the items listed below will help add scents to the area. These do however seem to be good options if you have a pet in your vehicle often, want to toss them into a gym bag, etc.

Fresh AF Air Freshener Spray

Now we are into leaving behind scents! Fresh AF is exactly what I want from an air freshener spray. It delivers an immediate burst of freshness without feeling overpowering, making it ideal after a quick interior detail or whenever the cabin needs a refresh. The scent is pleasant and clean and does not smell too artificial. Just a good, clean, scent.

How to Use

• Lightly spray onto carpets, seats, headliner, air space, etc.
• I like to spray the area and wipe it with a clean microfiber towel. Apply nice and light and avoid over saturation for best results.
• Avoid slick, delicate, painted, or non-porous surfaces like rubber floormats.
• Reapply as needed

As mentioned above, the Fresh AF will leave behind a nice clean scent, it will not remove odors. Target odors with other items and use the Fresh AF to leave behind a pleasant smell!

Air Freshener Bars

Bio-Bombs Air Freshener Bars are one of the easiest ways to maintain a consistently fresh interior. Rather than spraying a scent onto the surface, these bars release fragrance gradually over time, making them a great option for daily drivers, work trucks, or any vehicle that could use a little extra freshness.

I pair them with the Mesh Storage Baggies for Air Freshener Bars for easy storage and toss them under my seat. Each bar is split down the middle, allowing you to achieve 30-60 days of freshness in only one half. Just break into two, add one half your vehicle and the other to a ziplock bag to use when this one wears out. Best yet, they come in many great scents from mint, cherry, citrus, squash, etc.

Tip: Keep within your vehicle away from any vents or airflow to keep them from drying out quickly.

Final Thoughts

After using several Bio-Bombs products, I have become a fan of the brand as a whole. Rather than offering one product that tries to do everything, Bio-Bombs has a product line that allows you to select the correct product for your exact situation. Whether you need an air freshener, a complete vehicle deodorization treatment, or a product to target odors directly within upholstery or carpets, there is a Bio-Bombs item for it.

What stands out most is how easy everything is to use. None of these products require complicated procedures, yet they deliver noticeable results. The entire lineup feels well thought out, making it easy to recommend whether you are a professional detailer or simply someone who wants to keep your vehicle smelling clean.

The only negative that I have to stress is the Chlorine dioxide. This is needed to effectively remove odor causing compounds at the molecular level, however, if you are sensitive to this smell it is something to consider. Be sure to let your vehicle air out after use and if extreme odor removal is not needed, enjoy the many great air freshener and scent products!
