For a long time, ceramic coatings have been judged mainly by one number: durability. Three years sounds better than one. Five years sounds better than three. The problem is that the longest lasting coating is not always the right coating for the vehicle, the customer or the detailer applying it.

That is exactly why we developed GT1.

GT1 is the first new coating Gtechniq has released in quite some time, and we wanted it to solve a real problem rather than simply add another bottle to the lineup. There are plenty of enthusiasts who want genuine ceramic performance but do not necessarily want to commit to a multiyear coating. There are also detailers who need a coating that fits into a faster, more approachable service without requiring a full correction package.

GT1 gives both groups another option.

The product was developed with our Head Chemist, Lee Kennedy, and went through a long testing process before we settled on the final formula. We tried numerous versions, adjusting everything from working time to residue removal and hydrophobic performance. A coating can look impressive on paper, but it also has to feel right during application. That part mattered just as much to us as the finished result.

The final version gives the user more time to work and is less sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. It flashes more slowly, levels easily and removes cleanly. That makes it forgiving without making it feel watered down or basic.

Once cured, GT1 delivers the tight water beading and slick surface feel people expect from a Gtechniq coating. It also helps dirt release more easily during maintenance washes and provides up to one year of protection from a single application.

One of the strongest parts of GT1 is how flexible it is within a detailing package. Paint correction is not required before application. The surface still needs to be properly cleaned, decontaminated and prepared, but polishing can be based on the condition of the vehicle and what the customer actually wants.

That makes GT1 a natural fit for new vehicles, well-maintained daily drivers and customers who care more about protection than chasing perfect paint.

It is also useful across nearly the entire exterior. GT1 can be applied to paint, PPF, vinyl, trim, wheels and glass, excluding the windshield. Instead of switching between multiple coatings, one product can handle most of the vehicle.

For mobile detailers, that versatility opens up a strong upsell opportunity. GT1 can be added to a maintenance focused service without turning the job into a major correction. For enthusiasts, it offers a lower commitment way to experience a true ceramic coating while still getting meaningful protection and hydrophobic performance.

GT1 is not meant to replace Crystal Serum Light, Crystal Serum Ultra or our longer term systems. It simply gives people another way into the coating range.

After almost seven years with Gtechniq, I have seen how much thought goes into releasing something new. GT1 took time because we wanted it to have a clear reason to exist. It needed to be easy to apply, enjoyable to use and strong enough to carry the Gtechniq name.

I think the one year category is more useful than it often gets credit for.
