My name is Carter Kosick, I am the owner of Kospec Design. I have been an automotive enthusiast as long as I can remember, I give credit to my father who took me to hundreds of car shows and races as a youngster. I took a liking to Japanese cars at first, and fully resto-modded a 1991 240sx as my first car. I also have dreams of owning a GTR one day. Soon after I finished the 240sx, the Porsche bug bit me. I found a 2000 996 Carrera Aerokit and it solidified my love for the 911 platform. I later moved on to a 2003 996 turbo with plans of doing a GT2 inspired build. I built the engine myself to handle 1000hp, as well as upgraded all the suspension components. It truly is a sensational car, and I plan to keep it forever. Going forward, cars will alway be a massive part of my life and influence my business decisions and ventures.
Prior to creating Kospec Design I spent several years as an automotive detailer, I had a mobile detailing business throughout high school, and went on to detail concours cars for Monterey Car Week. When I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2021, I ventured into the Self-serve and Automatic Touch-less carwash industry with my father. The mission was to create an enthusiast centered carwash that offered the best amenities possible. We were successful in our venture, Finish Line Auto Spa attracts car people from all over the state!
The inspiration behind creating Kospec Design came from my years of detailing. I always thought to myself that there should be some sort of protection on vacuum hoses, air hoses, and power cords. Every detailer knows the struggle of holding the vacuum hose between their legs or looping the polisher cord around their neck! I came up with a streamline solution that utilizes materials that we all trust.
Kospec Design offers a handful of microfiber sleeves that are all perfectly fitted for their application. From vacuum hoses to polisher cords to battery tenders, all of your equipment can have a microfiber sleeve! All of the products are made from a thick 600gsm microfiber material with no zippers or buttons, a patent pending design. Users no longer have to worry about corrugated hoses and contaminated cords scratching door sills and painted panels.
The feedback I’ve received so far has been amazing. The microfiber sleeves have made it to many trade shows and detailer training classes and everyone has had something great to say. Even the most critical companies have been pleasantly surprised by their quality and design.
Starting any sort of business is challenging, and this one was no different. The skillset required to handle all aspects of a startup is large, from product development and manufacturing to website creation and marketing. I enjoy the whole process and love learning how to be more efficient along the way! By far the most challenging part has been finding reliable and high quality material suppliers that can stand behind their work. I have high standards and will not bring a product to market if I don’t love everything about it. This resulted in months of material testing and product development as well as numerous design changes. After 2 year of dedication, I ended up with a line of products I am truly happy with!
Going forward I will expand the product line and offer sizing for more hose sizes, and plan to have a handful of equipment-specific sizes for the most popular detailing equipment. Expect to see more vacuum hose sizes, extractor hose sleeves, and different length options for all products. Community demand will also influence new products as well, I work closely with a large detailing network that gives great feedback and suggestions.
