Detailed Image Ask-a-Pro Author Ian Howard

Everyone here at Detailed Image is excited to introduce Ian Howard from GlossAngeles as a new author to the Ask-A-Pro Blog Team! Ian takes a lot of pride in his work and is committed to helping out the Ask-A-Pro community. He is really looking forward to sharing all of his extensive knowledge of auto detailing with all of the AAP Blog readers.

Ian used to work at Always Evolving (AE Performance), where he was the service writer and the parts manager on top of doing detailing. Always Evolving is a professional motorsports team and from the exotic cars Ian handled, to the helping out the AE Team competing in the Pirelli World Challenge, Ian was involved in all of it. He has worked with many celebrity vehicles and extremely rare cars as well. Other than detailing Ian is an avid chef/baker. He enjoys cooking meals every night and is always trying new recipes, including a killer steak. Take a look below for more information about Ian and his business, GlossAngeles.

I always had a great love of cars and, like many of us, I loved to have a clean car. However, I also used to wash my car with dish soap and a bath towel because I didn’t know any better. I always thought there had to be a better way to do this and that is when I began researching detailing. As I began to really understand the process and the fundamental reason why different products do what they do, I became extremely interested in learning everything I could about detailing.

Friends and family began to ask if I could detail their cars, which spiraled into me detailing for sale preps for people. After years of research and hands on learning I found myself working at Always Evolving Performance on some of the most amazing cars in the world. With vehicles that could not be replaced I had to be extremely careful and I have taken that mentality into every car that I do.

I then recently began my own company, GlossAngeles. We take that meticulous detailing mentality and apply it to all of our work to provide the best result possible for our clients. I also started our website and blog to give back to the community and help them understand this art of detailing. Since I was never formally taught, I have a very deep understanding of how and why you perform every aspect of detailing. I can also portray that information in a way where a new detailer can understand the process and I am excited to share everything I know with all of you.

Ian has been hard at work and has a few articles that he is excited to share with everyone. From amazing details of a Corvette C7, to a few product reviews, Ian has covered a variety of topics. Take a look at the picture below from his fist post that will be going up on Thursday. Can you guess what the topic will be?

Welcome to the team Ian! Excited for a fresh perspective and interesting posts!

  4. Welcome! I am not a write but a new detailer, not a pro just the family go to. What wax do you use on black that is not a lot in price but works well?

    • The color of the vehicle has nothing to do with what wax to use. A wax will work on a black car and a white car the same. With that in mind just choose a wax that is within your budget. Detailed Image has a very good selection of waxes and you would be happy with any of them!
