Interview With The Owner Of Infinity Auto Styling
by Rodney TatumCustomer Review: “I had some paint swirls from car washes on my truck and Zak was able to make my truck look like new again. I would highly recommend him, he truly cares about what he does and it shows in the results.”
I had the pleasure of interviewing Zak of Infinity Auto Styling of Bismark, North Dakota. Infinity Auto Styling has become a respected name for car care enthusiasts who are looking for premium services in North Dakota. Zak tells the story of his auto detailing business, a high-end car care facility in a relatively less densely populated area.

Me: Can you tell me about what inspired you to start Infinity Auto Styling?
Zak: I started Infinity Auto Styling in July of 2020 in the hardest part of Covid. As a car enthusiast I had always worked on my personal vehicles and other people’s on the side from my day job, and finally decided I wanted to transition into building a business and elevating the level of service I provided.

Me: I am a firm believer that each of us as business owners inherently brings something unique to the table. In what ways do you believe Infinity Auto Styling stands out?
Zak: I think my business stands out from other local shops due to the level of detail, integrity, and accountability towards quality. I graduated from an art college back in 2016 and retained that eye for fine detail, only to pivot it away from digital art and into treating vehicles and other belonging as their own form of art. Along with an eye for detail, holding yourself to a “Premium Shop” standard, there comes a lot of hard decisions where I know a lot of other shop owners would and have taken the easy, fast or cheap way out. That does not happen here. Corners are not cut, and excuses are not made.

Me: In the automotive detailing industry, we have heard many stories from business owners that they cannot find customers in their area who desire more expensive premium quality services. Can you speak on how you have dispelled that myth in Bismark, North Dakota?
Zak: Marketing towards being a premium brand takes time and effort, and a lot of out of the box thinking that is tough for most people. Nowadays, almost every customer will ask about price first, and when shop owners get shut down, they’ll immediately believe they’re too expensive and they need to cater to an even cheaper market. With higher prices, and offering the highest level of service, you are going to hear ‘no’ more often and get more customers who do not fit your target market. That is okay. We are here to serve the ones who hold higher standards, not those who want the fastest or cheapest result.

Me: How important is education in selling a paint correction service and how do you gauge the popularity of those services options in your business?
Zak: Selling Paint Correction (services) require loads of education on the customer side of things, whether it be what actually goes into a proper paint correction or what the customer should expect from varying levels of correction. Certain questions and pieces of information have been a standard in us working with people looking for these services to make sure we are maximizing the turnout and the smile on our customers’ faces.
