    I don’t understand the phrase with these type of “water activated” sprays of “when exposed to water” or “upon contact.”

    These spray solutions are made mostly of water. Or if you buya big bottel of concentrate, then you dilute it with water to make your RTU spray.

    So if it’s the contact with water that activates the bonding, then how odes the chemical concoction remain viable in the bottle when it’s sitting in there mixed with water?

    • That’s a good question. I can understand how the idea of a “water activated” spray can seem confusing, especially when the product itself is water-based.

      When we say “water activated,” it refers to how the polymers in the solution react differently when exposed to the water already on the surface of the car during the rinse phase. While in the bottle, the formulation is stable because the polymers are suspended in a controlled environment, along with stabilizers and other ingredients that prevent premature bonding.

      However, when the spray is applied to the wet surface of a car, the combination of being spread out and rinsed with water causes the polymers to bond to the surface. The water on the car acts as a dispersing medium that allows the polymers to spread and adhere evenly, creating the protective layer.

      Basically, the polymers need the specific conditions of a wet car surface (in combination with rinsing) to activate their bonding properties, which is why the product remains stable in the bottle even when mixed with water.

    Does it matter what product you use first?

    • Good question. It doesn’t really matter which goes on first—you can apply either SiO2 or Pearl Seal first, depending on your preference or starting point.

      If you’re starting fresh:

      You can apply SiO2 first for long-lasting protection and then use Pearl Seal for maintenance during future washes.

      Or, you can apply Pearl Seal first for immediate gloss and as a drying aid, then follow up with SiO2 for more durable, long-term protection.

      Either way, both products will complement each other, and neither order will negatively impact the effectiveness of the other.
