Free Website Traffic | SEO for Underdogs

by

We all know the cost it takes to get someone to build you a website and make it look very professional. That’s all wonderful stuff, but does the site continue to work for you? As in, are people finding you through search?

I’d like to share some helpful hints and tips on how to build your own traffic, for free!

aowheels.com

In this common day and age, blogs are getting more and more popular. People have them for their family pics, small businesses, photography, clothing, you name it and there is probably a blog for it.

A lot of detailing companies are now using them as well! But they can be more powerful than they appear in SEO terms. Personally I prefer WordPress.org, not dot com. I also prefer this over Blogger as well. If you would, have a look at my site as example: www.aowheels.com

Nothing to special about it as it has all the features of a common site, however through the back end in the admin panel, I can see search terms that people used, back links, stats and more. Having a good amount of plugins that work well with your theme are a necessity. One particular good one is called “All in one SEO pack”. This is important if you wanted to have a better title to a post.

Example:

  • My post title as viewed on my site is, “Ferrari Teaser”
  • Through All in one SEO pack we can rename it to, “Orlando Ferrari Detailing”

This will better help in search engine results. If someone is to Google “Ferrari Detailing in Orlando” we have a better chance of pulling up first.

But we cant stop there because there are tons of blogs doing the same. In our example “Ferrari Teaser”, we’re going to have pictures! Once the photo has been uploaded to the media gallery we need to re-name it. So to re-name it we could give it the title of “Orlando Paint Correction for Ferrari” or something like that. I’m using Orlando as my approach to this article because that’s where I live and work and the search engines will recognize these in code. So if someone was searching Ferrari Paint Correction and viewing the images apposed to web search, this gives your photo a better chance of being seen and can redirect to your site.

Search Terms as mentioned above will be able to be seen by you in the admin panel. This could help with thinking of new titles or key words in future articles.

Well as the saying goes… We cant give away all of our secrets! But the one thing that will help in generating free SEO for your area and detailing business is content. Pump your blog full of post and add categories, tags, re-name pictures and share!

This is just some basic information but it will surely help with the consistency put into it. I speak with a lot of guys who don’t feel comfortable with posting write ups on detailing forums, but I always tell them to document all of their work. I really wish I would have started sooner in my detailing career of documenting. Mostly for your customers, they’re the ones that you really need to prove yourself to. Not to mention that this is a great way to build a solid portfolio.

If anyone has any questions on this please feel free to ask! I will gladly help if I can!

WordPress it’s a very good to have a blog, and you can find many plugins that will help the owner of the blog. I run my detailing blog on WordPress, also. Few plugins that I recommend: Nextgen Gallery, WP-Optimize, Akismet, SEO Friendly Images, ShareThis. There are many plugins listed on wordpress.org.

Just want to give some input on this as I do SEO professionally and detailing amateurly.

Be very careful with how often you put a GEO (location such as Orlando) into your content, page title, alt tags, and meta description. DO NOT include it in your URL. Google has really cracked down on that and you could run into issues of “over optimization” and be penalized by Google’s Search Algorithm.

I will recommend having a Google+ Local Business Page and a Google Places page set up for your business, be sure to include your website, phone, and address in those pages and make sure to verify the location. Given Detailing can be such a niche topic, your local optimization is key. It doesn’t hurt to also set up a Bing Business and Yahoo Business listing and verify those accounts as well. These are all free options.

Be sure to include your Google+ publisher tag in your website (your publisher tag includes part of the URL for your Google+ local business listing), I would also suggest setting up a regular Google+ profile for your “regular contributor” to your site/blog. Whenever that person posts, it’s important to tie Google+ Authorship between the person’s Google+ profile and their blog posts. I highly suggest reading up on Google’s Authorship and Publisher. Again, this really helps with branding.

Lots of great info in the OP as well as in your response, Chris. Since you posted your comment, have there been any major core updates to Google’s algorithm that would cause you to alter your approach to the authorship/publisher program that you described above? Do you still think that following the process you described has as big of an effect on SEO, given the current landscape?

I’m interested in knowing your thoughts on how content posted on google’s publisher platform can improve SEO for my site:
