Gyeon Glass And Others – Value In Slightly Better Or Familiar Quality Products
by Rodney TatumThere is value in condensing your professional collection, but there is also value in having the best resources available. Not every situation for a (okay/good enough) product will be ideal. I will add picking the best products for you also help condense your collection. There is no perfect right or wrong answer for how many supplies you should carry. Detailing will be more enjoyable when you know the best resources are in your arsenal.

I have a difficult time choosing another product other than Gyeon Glass when it comes to cleaning glass. This does not mean you should purchase Gyeon Glass. Familiarity can be just as valuable as product superiority. In addition, technique is more important with streak free glass. My point is to not handicap yourself by choosing an inferior product, when you know there are better alternatives. A cheap or thoughtless purchase decision can lead to frustration for a detailer working on a difficult car.
A smoker’s vehicle!

There are going to be situations with important tasks, where you may get a vehicle that is unusually bad. That is where budgeting for the product that is 80% as good can turn into a hindrance.
This came off the interior windshield with Gyeon Glass. I tested other random strong products for recommended off label use. It did not create these results. Yet Gyeon Glass performed like this while being listed as safe for window tint. There is less worry when you are detailing. Seeing these results gives me added confidence in the products I choose and my mindset to not compromise in finding the most effective solution.
I understand the obsession with price and dilution ratio to a point. But when the singular focus is cost effectiveness, we sell ourselves short in the long run. The product you may have thoroughly tested could be safe in a few instances in a controlled environment. But what happens over time, in not so ideal situations? You may have soft paint, the sun comes out, and you take longer to remove a chemical.
The hot July in Florida sun is an environment that many product labels will obviously mention as not ideal. Though for a number of reasons, it is always better if you can detail in shade or indoors. But it may not be ideal for you to be in ideal situations. That is where quality for that extra 10% is not just in the result, it is about safety and ease of use. From experience there has been a noticeable difference between Gyeon Iron and other Iron removing products in these difficult environments. I pushed a couple of other iron removers in similar extreme environments to find what could lead to potential issues.
I have had, albeit minor, had user error problems with certain detailing All-Purpose Cleaners. I prefer a less caustic product like Gtechniq W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner for this reason. This being such a high-quality product, I have noticed it is more forgivable when left on a surface. I also think to myself how much is saving a few dollars or cents on the cost of business worth, when you are bringing in multiple new employees who may not be as attentive or wise?
