Have tried the CG New Car Scent air freshener (from CG's direct website) and found it worked worse than the ones at Walmart. It lasted less than a day with 4 sprays and was always dominated by the food smell. On top of that, it did not smell like the new car smell at all.
Sprayed this Extreme Offensive Odor Eliminator diluted on my seats and carpets and the smell was gone. It has a nice apple-ish smell also that lasts a day or two, also longer than CG's dedicated air freshener. I don't know how this would work against stronger odors, but for simple ones it is very effective.
