Use the Lake Country 5" Backing Plate with your Porter Cable 7424 XP so you can maximize your buffer with top quality pads. The pad that comes with the Porter Cable 7424 is very low quality and it doesn't allow you to use other pads because the backing plate is attached to the pad. The 5" Backing Plate simply screws in your Porter Cable 7424 XP and can stay on the buffer permanently or can be removed with the supplied wrench. The hook and loop backing plate allows you to just slap the pads on and pull them off with ease. Using the correct pad is critical to getting the best results so having the backing plate is an absolute must with any Porter Cable 7424. We recommend you use this backing plate with the 5.5" Lake Country Pads for best results. The backing plate is semi-flexible so it can bend just a little bit with some pressure but generally speaking it is very sturdy and durable.
