Chemical Guys Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish Reviews
Professional Detailer Reviews
In my professional opinion, Chemical Guys Black Light is one of the great products available out there in the market, and it most definitely gets my seal of approval! This product does so many things well that I couldn't imagine dropping it from my arsenal. I use it as a final sealant, and I use it as an all-in-one product. I even have a pre-set starter package that I offer where Black Light is the featured AIO.

I applied BL 2 separate times to see if I could achieve a better quality. Unfortunately, it didn't wow me. Recently, I polished my whole vehicle and then topped it off with BL. It didn't seem to make the paint look any shinier or more wet. It seemed to perform just as the polish. The product was very easy to put on and take off. I applied the product at low speeds with a DA and with a foam applicator, and let it soak in for 15 mins . I will continue to test out the product to hopefully achieve a better result.
Blacklight was my first experience with Chemical Guys products and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Not knowing too much about the company or the product I went in with low expectations (I'm a Pinnacle or Blackfire products guy). I applied BL after a quick paint cleaning and correction and I have to say it's the deepest wettest shine I've gotten out of a product. As far as being a sealant I can say too much for now as I've only had it on the car for one week. If it lasts even 1/2 as long as I hope then it will easily be one of the best products I've used. Easy to apply, easy to remove and as I mentioned and incredible wet look.
I've had some lackluster results with the Blacklight sealant. I have used it exclusively on black vehicles and customers have reported the beading didn't last more than a few weeks. I put a coat of it on my black hardtop and went for a 800mi trip, most of which was in rain or overcast and there were 0 beads by the time I finished the trip. Not very pleased. It seems like such a great product when you apply it but I suppose it is more of a glaze than a sealant.

This is a glaze, not a sealant, so this product alone will not provide water beading like a few people have complained about. You have to top with sealant - highly suggest JetSeal. My recipe - P21S Paint Cleanser, then two coats of BlackLight (first layer applied with circular motion to get more benefit from micro-abrasives - then straight pattern on second layer with lighter buff out), then two coats of JetSeal to last you a year (1 coat if you want to do the process to this point every 6 months). Then Chem Guys 50/50 wax for deep warm glow (two layers if you have the time, or Poorboy's Natty's Red Wax as 2nd coat for wetter look), then Chem Guys Blitz as medium weight sealant to extend the life of these waxes and more shine, then Meguires Ultimate Paste Wax for max hydrophobic protection (during winter). Boost wax protection with Meg's Ultimate Quik Wax to keep hydrophobic protection going - Chem Guys V07 has less hydrophobic action than Meg's Ultimate products. With Meg's Ultimate Paste Wax 99% of rain drops will will blow off your hood at 45 MPH within a mile. Sounds like a lot of work, but amazing warmth/gloss/shine, and water spots / bird droppings just wipe off with waterless wash...after initial work, very low maintenance for six months with "like glass" appearance.
Really liked the way my sonic blue paint came to like after a medium DI claybar and hand application of Chemical Guys Blacklight! I had a really neglected finish and it really pops now! Waiting for drier weather to apply a sealer but water beads awesome on this stuff! It looks like ionized water beading now! Great product from a great company! DI customer service is excellent!
This is an update as I'm not sure if there's an option to update an existing review.
I finally applied a 2nd coat after washing down with CG Honeydew Snow Foam. In fact, I applied a 3rd coat right after just for kicks and each time, it went on smoother and smoother. Super easy to wipe off, and if you happen to run into a situation where it's dried up, just spray a quick detailer on the MF towel. That should also keep down any static buildup.
Shine is fantastic! The color of the SUV I used this on really came out richer too (it's a dark blue-green metallic Hyundai Veracruz - the final generation before discontinuation).

My go-to sealant for my black car. Leaves an awesome shine. Goes along great with the V7 spray.
Used only one coat. Not as easy to put on as I hoped though that could be due to the applicator pad (applied by hand). Gloss was very nice. Slickness? It was pretty good. I intend to add another coat sometime within 2 weeks. Definitely easy to wipe off.

This product exceeded my expectations. Did a 2 step correction on my 202 black Tundra Then followed it up with a coat of blacklight and wow. The depth that this added was amazing. I topped it with some CG Butter Wet Wax to add a bit more protection. It has found a permanent home in my detail stash.
Great Glaze. Not a sealant. Color depth os amazing with this. Topped it with D151 and the results were jaw dropping. Just when i thought I could not get any more depth on my black paint, this product blew me away.
Definitely lives up to all its hype.

I've been thrilled by products and disappointed by products but I've never met something that actually made me downright angry until I bought CG Black Light. The stellar reviews by the users here have never steered me wrong before and I've had good luck with Chemical Guys' stuff in the past so I felt confident in my purchase and thought that maybe something had finally come close to the much-revered Blackfire Wet Diamond.
Nope. Black Light is not as easy to apply, as easy to take off, nowhere near as slick and contains absolutely no beading properties whatsoever. I clayed my 2012 Elantra as always, applied Black Light just as I'd applied BFWD a dozen times before to this car and others, waited half an hour and buffed off. The first wash after applying sealants is always exciting for me...I get to see that beading action that I worked so hard to achieve while applying the sealant a week or so before. Black Light does not bead at all. In fact when I hosed the car off, the water reacted just like it had before I'd applied the sealant. It just sheeted up and sat there. With other sealants and waxes I've tried, it beads up and runs like somebody pulled a gun. As soon as I have a free moment, I'll be applying a coat of BFWD to my Elantra and the Black Light is already in the trash, the only place it belongs.

This stuff is AWESOME! i just used it on my dark gray tundra. I am so impressed with the depth, gloss, and slickness that I will use this on my 911 which is light silver. It was really easy to apply, it was really easy to take off. I hand applied and removed the coating. Ive used Blackfire Sealant until now, this was my first time using Black light. I feel like I got a much deeper, glossier, wetter look with the Black Light. I cannot comment on longevity but i'll know soon enough. before applying this i used Chemical guys Citrus wash to remove any prior coatings.
Great product!!!
If you try it, You will love it. Smells great, works great, Lasts great! A pleasure to use. Worth every penny. Make sure you buy it fro DI, They are the BEST !!!

I was hesitant to use this product at first, but I must say it is one of the best glazes I've ever used. I have a black Lexus and it made the paint look like new. Simply applied it with a microfiber applicator pad, waited 15 mins, then buffed off. The shine was incredible. It stands behind its words of making black paint shine again. I use it almost every wash when I really want my paint to look "wet". I have yet to apply it by a orbital, but I plan on attempting that next week. If you have black paint then BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Does a nice job of preparing the paint when applied with a DA buffer and blue pads. I then buffed on a layer of Jetseal and the combination was highly reflective and glossy. I've also applied it as a single layer by hand for extra gloss and protection. A good multipurpose product that is easy to use.
Holy crap Batman! This stuff will make your paint job blindingly bright! I used it on my metallic red '13 Explorer Sport after a wash and a spritz of Chemical Guys V7 detailer. It would be nice if Chemical Guys would post on the bottle or on their website the minimum and maximum preferred steps to get the most reflection out of the paint. Should I wax first, wax second, wax at all?
Used Black Light for the 1st time on my Belize blue pearl Accord after a glaze with CG mirror glaze. Impressive results....pearl is more noticeable and finish is very slick. I did apply a coat of Natty's blue wax for an extra layer of protection. Water drops after a wash are now almost completely uniform in size. Really like the nano technology used in the blending process. I'm a believer.
Awesome! Used it on my wife's Jet Black Bimmer. Unbelievable! The car looks like glass. Easy on-easy off. Applied with a blue finishing pad. Can't wait to use it on my Palladium Silver Mercedes.
This product works great, adds shine, cleans up some imperfection, i used it before putting on sealant and it gave more shine and depth, defiantly a great product.
I was happy with the product, I can see the difference it made over what was there before!!
What a great product! My pinnacle sovereign wax is collecting dust. I recently polished my sapphire black m6 and my black g500 and the shine is similar to swissvax, very warm and deep. The product acts like a final polish, glaze and sealant. There's no way this product is going to leave my arsenal.
This stuff is worth it. I did my vista blue mustang after washing it and it gave it a great shine. Deep and clean sealant. Its sort of a hybrid glaze/sealant from what CG told me. I still have 2/3 a bottle left and I probably used too much. Super easy off, which is very important to me.
Great stuff! I used 2 coats of this and got better gloss and reflection and a slicker surface than my already very nice finish on my G35. A little goes a long way, too. I will be buying more, but 1 bottle should last me a long time.
very glossy and smooth. easy to apply and easy to remove. just what you need from a good sealant.
Pros .. It's very easy 2 apply and a little goes a long way.. Applied 2 coats and sealed with v 7 .. Love it .. Cons none
I should have used this and skipped using just a regular glaze first. It's an easy to use product that offers a deep, slick, wet finish. Like another review, it's sort of like BFWD, just a little thicker. Time well tell as to how it holds up, but so far, it looks great. Definitely believe that machine application is the way to go.
I've tried alot of sealants and liked most that I've tried but I really love this stuff.Excellent gloss, shine and clarity not to mention easy to use.Works really well with the V7, only thing I dont care for is the smell as I have allergies to certain perfume like fragrances. 10 out of 10!
Simply superb!!! Very easy to apply and remove. Ensure you allow it to cure prior to removal.

Used it for the first time last night on my friends 90' MX-5. It brought out a deep reflection I have not seen on My MX-5 (same color). I can not wait to use it on mine (My paint is in better shape than his). I am very eager to try it on my Pewter Metallic Olds Bravada, I have heard it does a good job at making the metal flake pop. We did top his off with the CG V7 detailer and it feels really slick. CG has won a place in my heart.
If this stuff were any easier to apply, it would apply itself. And what it does to the paint's surface is sheer magic. Not only does it create a beautiful, deep shine, but it also leaves your car slick as a baby's youknowwhat. Based on other reviews I did top it off with wax, just to be on the safe side. I've tried to photograph the results, but in full sun my car now shines with a brightness beyond what my trusty Nikon can handle. Buy it!.
Very happy with this product! As a glaze, makes any color more vibrant and gives that "wet" look and as a sealant works great but I do top with a wax. The best part is how the paint feels afterwards, soooo soft & smooth!

This is one of those products that is hard to describe. I've heard all types of descriptions... "its a hybrid wax/glaze" "its a hybrid wax/sealant" "its a hybrid glaze"
From my experience, it has not provided me with much protection at all (one-two weeks tops)
The vehicle looks great when applied but it is a MUST to follow up with a wax or sealant afterwards!
As with most all CG products, application and removal are a breeze!

Thought to give it a try on our vehicle and the wet shine it gave really made the finish seem slick and wet. A really nice product sure to make the finish pop.
Used this twice in the last two weeks on NBP black Acura paint. The results were amazing. Applied it with a blue LC pad and a RO. Application and buffing off are a snap. Really happy with this product.
Chemical Guys Black Light is a very nice product. It's goes on nicely and buffs to a brilliant shine. I was particularly impressed with how glossy the finish was after one application but keep in mind that paint itself was polished but the Black Light Sealant really brought it to a new level... I would recommend that you try this product!!
I was very please with this product. I used the hand method this time and it went on and and came off with easy. It did give me a deeper shine. I didn't have the time for a second coat....but I happy how it has turned out
Used this for the first time last week. Went on very easy with Griots RO and a blue pad. Waited the recommended 15 min and wiped off with a CG towel, came off with no effort. I topped it with Menz Power Lock and couldn't be happier, the paint just glows on my MK4.

This is a great sealant!
For you familiar with BFWD, Black Light is just as easy to use and leaves a super slick, wet finish....just like BFWD. I am not sure about durability, but a plus is you can add a second coat of BLRF 30 minutes after the first has been buffed off. I usually wait an hour, but that's just me. Try it, you'll like it.
