I feel Opti-Coat is revolutionary for both consumers and the detailing community. By offering this product to our clients we are, in a sense, offering a renewable clear coat, but with much better properties. I've been using this information to help sell Opti-Coat to my clients for a while, but it is especially important for clients with new cars sporting very thin OEM paint (80-90 microns). Even though this is a permanent coating, I really don't try to sell it as such. Instead, I educate the customer about the product and highlight the benefits, including that future polishing will remove less OEM paint, since the majority of light swirling and marring will be in the coating. I also like to explain that Opti-Coat offers increased UV protection to replenish the small amount potentially removed during polishing.
Product Review: Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0
My first impressions of this product are mostly positive as I feel Optimum has succeeded in improving several characteristics of their consumer based coating. Gloss Coat is very easy to use, looks great, and has a nice slick feeling... Ultimately, Gloss Coat should be another great option for the car owner who is seeking an easy to use paint coating to protect their vehicle from the environment.

Gloss Coat is my absolute go-to. I use it on my vehicle as well as those belonging to my family, and unless customers have a strong preference for something else, this is what I recommend they buy and bring with them when I work on their car. I love everything about it. Ease of application, protection, durability, and of course, the aesthetic. I'll offer here what I tell my customers. I park outside 24/7/365. I easily get three-years of protection, and could probably go longer if it wasn't for my OCD. If you park in a garage, and especially if you're willing to buy and apply Hyper Seal every quarter, I think you can double that.

I love that I can apply to paint, wheels, and trim, and on average use only 8cc of product. Gloss Coat is an outstanding coating, and is super simple to use. I recommend it without hesitation.

I have experience with professional grade coatings applied with a block/suede. Yes, they seem to work well when they come in for maintenance washes / topper applications.

But they're not worth the trouble in my business. My clients report back excellent product performance, and two of them are at the three year point with Optimum Gloss Coat. No fumes, no wasted microfiber towels, no insane difficult application or wipe off, just easy on, easy off, great gloss and long dependable protection.

Recently I looked into a very popular consumer coating, and read that it can be finicky in application, risks of high spots, and it required a topper. Conversely I also real that Gloss Coat doesn't need the topper, and already contains SiC, and Sio2 in the formula. Gloss Coat flexes with the heat/cooling of the paint, where the other more rigid coatings might fracture. So the decision was made to cancel the other coatings and stick with Optimum Gloss Coat. Besides, they were both rated as two year coatings.. The former seemed a LOT more work compared to Gloss Coat for the same longevity.

Optimum Gloss Coat will be the only ceramic coating I will offer, until I can start using their professional grade offerings. Anything else is just not worth the trouble.

Because I have clients picking up their cars the same day, or a day after, I apply a coat of Opti-Seal one hour after Gloss Coat application to protect the coating from water as it cures for seven days, sort of insurance against mother nature, and over zealous customers wanting to wash their car.

Optimum gloss coat was extremely easy to apply it leaves a great protection with a high level of gloss, the preperation was the most tedious part of the process but as far as the gloss coat that was a breeze.

I was trying to decide between a few different coatings to put on my truck, I decided to go with gloss coat for a few different reasons. Several of the coatings on the market require two separate product and multiple coatings of at least one of the 2 coatings, this isn't the case with gloss coat. One coat with thorough application is all that's needed.

Application is super easy and can be done by anyone that can be diligent during the process. High spots are almost impossible to get, and leveling the product is very user friendly. Make sure to follow the process and prep work. If you can leave the car in the garage for a week then this is all you need, however if you are gonna drive the car during that period, go ahead and pick up some optiseal as well. Wait an hour after you apply gloss coat, and then apply one spray of optiseal to each panel. Doing this will provide a sacrificial layer over your gloss coat while it cures for a week. So far this was a fun process and I purchased a 2nd syringe to start offering this product to my clients. Would definitely recommend.

I waited two years to write this review as longevity of the product was a big deciding factor for me and wanted to be able to provide feedback on it. I can happily say two years after applying the gloss coat (which was very easy to apply), water still beads up on the car nicely. The coating went on very easily and buffs to a very nice shine, had no issues with the application. The only con I have, which may be inherent to the silver color of my car, was that I did not get as "glossy" a shine I would have liked.

First time using it. I bought to coat a new set of wheels I purchased. Application was easy and I hope it lasts as long as it says it does.

I applied Gloss Coat to 2015 Nissan Rogue in Jet Black - application very easy, just make sure you have some sort of inspection light (250 or more lumens) to be able to see any "high" spots that need light towel buffing. If you miss them don't freak out, but polish lightly (i.e., Optimum Hyper Polish with a LC white pad, or similar) to fix the spot, and then reapply. Highly suggest applying a 2nd coat - this is just as easy as the first coat, just make sure to wipe with Optimum Paint Prep before application so that you have a very clean surface. The 2nd coat makes subsequent maintenance much easier and give you more protection against bird bombs, bugs, etc. I use both Optimum No Rinse, and Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash as maintenance agents - I like Uber better for getting bugs off the front bumper fascia. Both ONR and Uber work even better on Gloss Coat than on wax - dirt much easier to get off and I can use lighter pressure = less swirling. Also, I use Paint Prep when I want to get the Gloss Coat super clean again, then I use Gyeon Cure to give it some additional protection and gloss. I am not afraid to re-polish spots which get damaged/scratched, and then just clean with Paint Prep and another coat of Gloss Coat. My front fascia has lasted approx 2.5 years and is still making it very easy to clean off bugs. After two years of using all waxes under the sun (ChemGuys 50-50, Wolfgang Fuzion, Collinite, etc) I have stopped wasting time waxing - Gloss Coat is the way to go - the hood is the "last man standing" because I still love to wax, I just don't want to do the whole car anymore - and Gloss Coat is better defense against swirls cause by getting road grime on lower side door panels. Try Gloss Coat on a front bumper to see how much easier it is to maintain against bugs, then make a decision on the rest of the car.

Great entry level coating. Just don't run around telling everyone you have Opti Coat Pro because it isn't anything like a permanent coating.

Put two layers of this on over the weekend. 1st layer was easier than the second. Car looks great tho. Overall super easy to use. Certainly less work than waxing.

Superior slickness and gloss. Had some issues with product streaking. Thought I had done a great job of applying the product until I took the car outside the next day into the direct sunlight. A number of panels had streaks and high spots. Easily corrected by using some finishing polish to remove the original application and then applied another coat of Gloss Coat. Would highly recommend applying Gloss Coat in an area where you have a lot of light and taking the car outside occasionally to check your work. Despite having to reapply the product to several panels, I would still highly recommend this product as the resulting gloss and slickness are incredible.

I much prefer Opti gloss coat application over my recent challenging experiences with CarPro Cquartz UK. The product goes on so easy, levels well and is a breeze to buff off. I have had it on my F150 for about 6 months ago and the shine is still insane. Easy to maintain as well.

This is the only coating I use on my personal vehicles. One of my cars leased and as soon as it gets home from the dealer it is clayed, polished, and coated with gloss coat. That's all of the work that car needs for the 3 years I own it (other then washing of course) the water beads just as good at the 3 year mark as it did on day one. Living in the northeast the winters are brutal on vehicles (salt, sand, snow, and ice) this product definitely holds up. My only complaint is I feel they over sell the "nothing sticks". In my experience bugs, sap, water spots, and other contaminates still require a fair amount of effort to remove. All in all a great product that I will continue to use to keep my vehicles looking great and protected with minimal effort.

Easy to apply, but streaks. Even after polishing and finishing with IPA, it has left visible streaks on jet black paint. Mfg said it's because the high heat and humidity, which is a fact of life in Houston about 10 months a year, so I will not be buying this product again. Very dissatisfied.

I've used this on a couple of personal vehicles and a couple of my relatives vehicles. It is one of the easiest coatings to apply. I remove it when it flashes to about 90%. Any remaining product is easily removed to avoid high spots.

It offers a great look and does add more gloss once the paint is polished out. It had great water repellency for those that like their beading and sheeting. It does make the car easier to clean.

I would recommend it and I will be buying more.

Gloss-Coat really is a terrific product. I use it on my own cars, and I recommend it to my customers as a first choice for long-term protection. High marks for ease of use, great looks, and terrific protection. The latter is, of course, the big selling point. Damage from bird bombs, heavy brake dust, and environmental fallout is greatly minimized. That said, if you're measuring this against any polymer sealant on the market, it is a clear winner on all fronts, and is well worth the premium.

By comparison, I find it a bit more difficult to apply than Opti-Coat v2.0, but this is picking nits. The prior version was *so* easy to use that it's almost not fair to mention that Gloss-Coat is a bit more tacky (I find that I use a bit more product) and you'll want to keep a close eye on finished panels, particularly in cooler climates and/or higher humidity levels. The benefit, while this is admittedly subjective, is that the gloss is remarkably improved, particularly on light colors. It's hard for me to compare durability, but I can say that it seems to be at least as durable as v2.0.

My only complaint - as with the prior version - is in the packaging. Since it's aimed at the consumer/enthusiast and pro-sumer (self labeling - us detailers that don't do enough work to chase after certification for the "Pro" product), I'm disappointed at the use of a Zip-Loc freezer bag. In this marketspace, I think premium products should look like premium products. A number of my customers have mentioned that this looks more like something bought out of the back of a van.

Nonetheless, I recommend this product without hesitation. (Same goes for nearly the entire Optimum line, for that matter.) I won't use anything on customer cars that I wouldn't use on my own, and I'm proud to show off my car. The look is fantastic, and month after month dirt and grime just wipe right off...even German brake dust. Buy, follow the directions, and be happy.

Great product! I have never used a paint coating but I have used glass and trim coatings. This was easier to apply than the glass coating I used. High spots were not an issue and the product flashed quickly. At first I thought I was not using enough but realized after the first couple of panels that a little product goes a long way. I did do a second coat, just to make sure I didn't miss any spots and I also used a Carpro applicator and suede cloths because I am able to to see the product better. I put it on the applicator and it glides easier that the foam pad that was provided. I let it cure for 24 hours and the finish was slick as when I wax. It experienced its first rain the following day and let me tell you that the water beaded up better than most waxes and blew of the car like it was nothing. When I got home, it was like it never got wet. I will be using this on other cars.

Love this product and blown away by clarity and ease of use. I have use this product on 2016 Mercedes s550, 2016 Denali XL, 2013 Ram 1500. I will continue to use this product on all of my personal vehicles and customers cars. I would highly recommend anyone buying a new car to use this product to protect its look and finish for years to come. The protection it provides can only help the resale value of a car when one is ready to sale.

Very impressed. I had a lot of prior experience with Opti-Coat 2.0, and really had no complaints. Gloss-Coat? Even better, really. Thoughts after doing two cars so far...

After the initial pad priming, it seems like you use even less product than with 2.0. Flash time definitely seems quicker, although in fairness I was working in very low humidity (southern Arizona) as opposed to my more familiar SF bay area surroundings. Overall, super easy to apply, with great initial good looks. After 24 hours, the finish is very slick to the touch, which certainly brings smiles. As with 2.0, you don't get much of a "Wow!" factor on light colors and even darker colors without metallic or pearl content. I always warn my customers about this, but it really is a tiny price to pay for the otherwise outstanding results. Certainly I can't speak to longevity as yet, but my expectations are that it'll match the ~ two years of durability I consistently found with 2.0. Thus far, from a single 20cc syringe, I've done two cars - including wheels & trim, plus a second coat on one of the cars, and there is 4cc remaining in the syringe. As always, it's impressive how little product you need to do the job well.

The only real downside, in my opinion, is in the packaging/presentation. This is a premium product that comes at a premium price, and it seems odd to open a Ziploc sandwich bag to get to the good stuff. In my case, I'll often have my customers buy the product, and we all know the importance of first impressions. This is always a conversation point, and I feel like I have to do a little extra sales job to ensure their confidence. They syringe is a great design, and I love the threaded nozzles, but it'd be nice to have a prettier bow around the box, so to speak.

Bottom line, I recommend this without hesitation. This is my go-to, not only for my vehicle, but for my customers as well. The results are fantastic - and while they may not be visually stunning, the durability and subsequent remarkable ease of maintenance win the day. Personally, once you factor in all the variables - types of surfaces protected, amount of product used, dollar spent, and overall durability, I've not seen a better product in the market.

It's awesome. Bought a brand new Subaru. I wanted to make sure the paint would be protected and the plastics wouldn't fade or discolor in the Texas heat. This stuff is awesome. It was pretty easy to apply. The car always looks clean....even if its dirty. The paint gleams and shines even at night. Another Subaru owner parked next to me at the grocery store with the same color car. I noticed them looking back and forth between the two brand new clean cars. My plastics are darker, my rims are shinier, my paint looks sooo much better!

Definitely a good buy!!!

My review is for Gloss-Coat, not OC 2.0. After using Gloss-Coat for the first time I came away really impressed with the ease of application and the slickness during and after application. Unlike some other coatings, Gloss-coat is ridiculously easy to apply and is not finicky at all. It also takes much longer to completely flash, which is a good thing because it gives you that much more time to wipe-away any high spots before it cures. Speaking of high-spots, I found they seem to disappear a lot on their own so I didn't have too many to wipe away. After the application, the paint was incredibly slick and the gloss was top-notch. I cannot comment on durability at this point but I will be checking in with my customer periodically to see how they feel it's holding up. My two big issues with Gloss-Coat are the amount that comes in the syringe and the price. I think OC 2.0 came with 20 cc's for $80, but Gloss-Coat (only 2 years of protection) comes with just 10-12 cc's for $60. Essentially, it went from about $4/cc to $6/cc. While Gloss-Coat does have some better attributes than OC 2.0, it's upsetting that Optimum jacked the price up on a product that doesn't offer the same long-term protection as the product it replaces. Optimum makes great products, but business & marketing decisions leave much to be desired.

Flash time on this is very quick, but it works great. A must have coating if paint leveling was performed to prevent future damage, and a no brainer if you bought a new car as they are a significant investment, so a very wise choice. It goes on nice and easy, move it around quickly and knock down the high spots and it dries to a deep long lasting shine.

Actually easier to apply than Klasse and Zano sealant that I have been using for years. Looks very glossy and has good depth. Don't put on windows. it's a pain. glass polishes very nicely so putting on something that is not meant to bond to glass and is softer than the glass itself doesn't make sense.

Going to apply it on my other two cars.

Optimum has done it again! At first they had Opti Gaurd which was only available to professionals and you had to sign a waiver form. Now they have come out with a user friendly version Opti-Coat 2.0. This stuff is probably the best permanent paint coating out there at this time! I have used it on a 06 Mercedes SL500 including the paint, wheels, trim, grill, jambs, etc. It beads water months later like the day it was applied! Easy to apply, pricing is very fair and reliability is great. I will warn that it is NOT a filler product, meaning that it will not hide scratches or even small imperfections. All imperfections will need to be removed prior to applying this product or else they will be sealed in. It also needs to be prepped correctly and paint cleaned very very well before applying. If you are using Optimum compound and polishes prior to applying this product then all that will need to be done is a wipe down of a highly diluted ratio of Optimum Power Clean. Also a great sealer for headlight restorations!
