Professional Detailer Reviews

With nearly all roads around the world being asphalt based, it is nearly impossible to not need a product like CarPro's Tar X Tar & Adhesive Remover. While darker colors do a great job of hiding tar spots, lighter colors such as white or silver show specks of tar very easily. Typical washing products will simply not do a good job of removing these marks in a safe timely manner, and that is where Tar-X comes in. This product really needs very little explanation as the name does a great job of describing what it does.

I just used this on a car that was entirely coated in tree sap. Allowed it to site for about a minute in small sections and it worked amazing. I had to use a plastic razor blade to remove the sap dropping but the use of this product absolutely made the job happen.

Works as advertised. Really cuts down on the elbow grease!! Spray on and WAIT the suggested 2 minutes and adhesive effortlessly rubs off with a plastic scraper tool. Very satisfied.

So, let the fun being. I bought a new truck drove down a back road with sun in eyes and didn't realize they put fresh tar down. Brand new truck and tar. Wash it didn't come off, also looking for something safe for the ceramic coating, found the stuff works like a DREAM!!
This has saved my coating paint. Yes, but it wish it came in a biggie size for what I needed it for. For the record I'm not a detailer. But it does work.

Bought this to remove the old wheel weight stickers on my rims. Sprayed some on the sticker, let it dwell for about 5 minutes, and the old stickers came off easily. Works great on road tar too, has a pleasant orange smell, much better than the petroleum based cleaners.

We've tried several tar/adhesive removers in my shop, and this one is by far our favorite. If you do a lot of dealership work this is great for cleaning up all those auction decals. I rarely even have to break out a razor anymore.

Best tar remover I've used. Depending on the material being applied to, I've found it best to spray on microfiber and then lightly apply to tar. The spray/let sit and then pressure wash off is ok too, but I've found the best results with the spray in the microfiber method.

Very impressed with this product. Lingers where you spray and breaks down tar, sap, and more. This will be my go to product for this purpose.

This is the only tar remover I use. I recently cleaned a car with wheels that hadn't been cleaned in ten years. The amount of tar was unbelievable. Tar-X took it off in two applications in about twenty minutes. It really works. Buy this, you will be amazed at how effective it is.

I work near an Asphalt Plant, and the stuff that gets on your paint when the when the wind blows just right is depressing. Only thing that really seemed to work was to claybar the paint. This product takes the stress of marring from using a claybar away. Melts it right off.

Love CarPro products. This really works well for removing tree sap and road tar! Just be carful to not get on plastics and trim.

It worked a little. I followed the directions and it did take some of the bugs off. I have repeated the process but have yet seen any difference.

This item is excellent at removing tar. I've tried other products that they sell at auto part stores including Walmart and they don't compare to this product. Do not waste your time with the other products.

Wow. Just wow! Worked great on paint and even plastic. Awesome orange smell! First test was on an old beater that had gum and tar on there for years. One spray, a little dwell, and a wipe - all gone. Next tested on my boss's car - removed spots he's never gotten off (and actually thought were scratches.) Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but it's value is in effectiveness, easy of use, and that yummy orange smell.

Seems like all our highways are being reground and repaved. Lots of melted asphalt as well since temps have been warm this summer. Rockers on my car were actually black from the asphalt. It took a couple tries but the tar did disolve and soften so it could be washed and wiped away. Previously used the Minnesota product to no avail.

This stuff is probably the second best product I've ever used in my life of detailing automobiles (right after but still hand in hand with Iron X), wash you car - do your Iron X first - spray this on and watch it work, literally just watch all the bugs and tar stuck to your car melt away. Follow up with a nice wax and your good to go. A+++ product!

Recently did a vehicle that was used for racing and there was lots of rubber from the wheels around the wheel wells. This product in combination with a plastic razor blade worked wonders. This is also another great product for when it comes to removing those annoying dealership badges and stickers. Always keep this on hand when it comes to exterior details.

I always use tar x in every prep. I spray it in jambs, wheels, and the underside of the hood. When sprayed off in those spots with a pressure washer, all tar and grime comes off. Did I mention it works incredibly well on jamb hinge grime? I also use it on sticky adhesive and black marks inside interiors.

The price is a little steep but nothing compares to tar x, seeing as it is a safe alternative to kerosene based tar removers.

Tarminator is great, but this is better. Better smelling and seems to "melt" the tar and bugs away. I stocked up on it.

I've now gone through a bottle and need to reorder. This product works very well although if left on too long it can leave green streaks, I found that spritzing some onto a MF towel removes it. I've been hooked on Tarminator for a while now and this beats it without a doubt. It goes to work almost instantly and wipes tar off much easier than other products. Great at getting the residue from dealer stickers off, oh how I hate them!

This stuff works great. Took care of tar on the side of my BMW very quickly and effectively. Washed off with little agitation and lots of water. Didn't damage the finish at all. Strong smell so make sure to use in a well ventilated area if you are sensitive.

This product works very well on almost any surface, This product has never failed me. It removes sticky residue from just about anything. I've personally removed all the tar from a track car, removed the adhesive on a carbon fiber roof used to keep the headliner snug on a 2010 BMW M3. Works well removing sticky residue from the windshield. I recommend and would buy again
