By steaming wool, the wool strands will bloom from the heat and moisture, which provides it with a fuller, more plush feeling. Unsteamed Wool Pads actually have the wool strands sewn tighter together, which results in more wool in the pad. The more wool, the more cutting power you can achieve! This also provides you with some more blow-off for the first pad use, but after that you will see less for the life of the pad. These pads are great. They are a bit smaller then normal sized wool pads that I use but they are perfect size for most jobs. I own a boat repair shop and I only really use wool, as I need to get my sanding marks out after gelcoating and this pad paired with starke level R is amazing!
