Product Description

Flex Power Tools was created in 1922 in Germany and their amazing tools are now available in the United States. We are very proud to be one of the first companies in the US to carry the next generation of orbital buffers with the Flex XC 3401 VRG. Orbital buffers are much safer than rotary buffers because they generate less heat, which can also limit their cutting power compared to rotary buffers. Flex has done an outstanding job combining the best of both worlds, with a significantly more powerful orbital buffer that still minimizes the risk of burning your paint. Use the Flex XC 3401 VRG buffer to delicately apply your favorite sealant or effectively break down a compound or polish. The ultra smooth power allows you to buff out swirls and fine scratches, so you can restore a transparent clear coat. Watch our Flex demonstration video that shows the capabilities of removing imperfections with the buffer.

The Flex XC3401 VRG and Porter Cable 7424 have some similarities and differences that are outlined below. Both buffers move in a random orbit or oscillating motion, designed to replicate a hand buffing motion. They are both approximately 5.75lbs so they are relatively light and easy to use. The Porter Cable 7424 XP requires you to purchase an after market backing plate while the Flex buffer comes with a built in 5.5" hook & loop backing plate. Both buffers are typically used with 6.5 inch pads while they can use most pads over 6 inches. This means that most pads used with the Porter Cable 7424 XP will be compatible with the Flex buffer. The Porter Cable 7424 XP has a speed dial that is the only means of adjusting the speed. The Flex buffer has a speed dial which sets the maximum speed you can reach with the variable speed trigger. Hold the trigger down lightly and it will operate at low OPMs and squeeze it tightly to reach the maximum OPMs relative to what speed you have the dial on. If you want the buffer to operate at the maximum OPMs, relative to what you set the speed dial to, you can lock in the trigger so you don't have to continuously hold it. The Flex XC 3401 VRG has over 40% more power than the Porter Cable 7424 (9,600 OPMs vs. 6,800 OPMs) and a bigger motor. This allows the Flex buffer to give you more cutting power to remove deeper imperfections. The additional power will help ensure your buffer will not bog down under moderate to heavy pressure. Both buffers have a detachable handle, but the Flex's bail handle is positioned directly over the buffer as opposed to on the side. The design of the buffer puts your hands at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock, so your hands are equidistant from the middle of the buffer, which helps you evenly distribute pressure. The even distribution of pressure really helps you work in the polish and get optimal results with ease.

The Flex buffer also comes with many other technological advancements that make it one of the premier buffers on the market. Flex uses seven-fold microprocessor electronics: with consistent speed control by tachometer generator, soft start, accelerator trigger switch, restart protection after power interruption, overload protection, temperature monitoring, and speed selection. The oscillating motion moves the buffer precisely 8mm during one orbit. The handle is removable and easy to hold so you can detail for hours with no problems. Quality shut-off carbon brushes: if the carbon brushes wear down, the motor will be automatically switched off and thus protected from damage. There is spindle lock to prevent damage as well. It also comes with a 13 foot power cord and the Flex red plug. The Flex buffers come with a one year warranty and service centers across the US and Europe. This helps ensure that you'll be using this high quality buffer for years to come. The Flex XC 3401 VRG is in stock and ready to ship to you!

WOW! Having been through three PC’s and a couple rotaries in my professional career, I simply cannot believe the power and FLEXibility this machine has out of the box. This is the perfect blend of the power of the rotary, but the safety and ease of the dual-action random orbital that I would highly recommend to the beginner or weekend warrior. While there is still a need for a rotary in extreme cases, unless that is a market you are focused on, ditch it and stick with the FLEX! The combo of the Flex with the FLEXibility of the Lake Country pads gives the user all sorts of versatility. This machine simply does not bog down when force is applied to enable the breakdown of a polish or compound, but glides so smoothly when jewelling a finish or applying a liquid wax or sealant. Professional or not, if I had a choice to make all over again, I would have went with the FLEX much sooner. Believe me, it’s well worth the money!

I can not express how impressed I am with this unit!

I mainly bought this to get the water spots off of a used MINI that I bought, but also wanted it to maintain my other vehicles as well.

I have never had a buffer/polisher before, and was a little intimidated at first, but in no time I had this thing cranked up to 6 and was going like a pro! The water spots came right off with Menzerna medium cut polish and an orange pad. One swipe and they were gone! It also took out some rather deep swirl marks made by the previous owner trying to remove some tar spots. A couple of passes and they were gone too!

All in all, this is a wonderful device and I would not hesitate to buy another.
