Product Description

The Gtechniq HALO Flexible Film Coating allows you to protect your PPF or vinyl wrap with ease! When protecting your paint there are many different options based on your needs. Some people love the looks of a wax or a sealant, while others reach for a coating for extreme durability and protection. Gtechniq has taken popular coating technology and reformulated it, especially for PPF and vinyl wraps!

Halo is a chemically bonding, ultra-dense, but flexible film. Once applied, HALO protects your wrap from dirt, grime, and anything else your car is exposed to on a daily basis. Don't take our word for it though, Rob Earle, the Gtechniq managing director who heads up product development said, "The density of the coating and it's low surface energy improve dirt and water repellency of your PPF or vinyl. It also helps to prevent staining from dirt ingression, as well as reducing yellowing caused by UV rays. It's a win, win product that keeps the PPF in a much better condition and makes it much easier for people to keep their car clean following PPF application."

With rigorous real-world testing, Gtechniq has found that HALO is compatible with various types of gloss, matte, and satin vinyl and PPF. If you are looking to protect your wraps, reach for Gtechniq HALO Flexible Film Coating!

Professional Detailer Reviews

The initial application was extremely easy. It reminded me of EXO, which in my opinion is the easiest coating to install on the market. Halo spread quite nicely and buffed off with little effort. This is very important, as vinyl wrap film is quite soft and scratches easily. Vinyl has some self-healing, but not as much as PPF, so an easy installation with minimal effort and pressure is much preferred.

Product Description

HIGH-PERFORMANCE FILM AND VINYL PROTECTION

Gtechniq HALO is a chemically bonding, ultra-dense, yet flexible film, that uses chemical bonds to become the permanent surface of your vehicle's paint protection film (PPF) or vinyl.

The density of the coating and its low surface energy improve dirt and water repellency of your PPF or vinyl. It also helps to prevent staining from dirt ingression, as well as reducing yellowing caused by UV rays.

Rigorous real-world and laboratory testing has proven HALO to be compatible with all types of gloss, matte, and satin vinyl and PPF.

Directions

To apply HALO, your vehicle must be indoors, and remain indoors, for at least 12 hours after application.

1. Degrease
Degrease the surface of the film to ensure maximum volume of chemical bonds between HALO and your film.

2. Apply
Soak the application pad with several drops of the product. Spread onto a small panel or 1/2 a large panel and immediately remove residue with an MF1 cloth. For best results apply two coats of HALO.

I used Halo to coat my matte colored vinyl wrapped Lincoln Continental. Halo was recommended by the wrap installer, and offered as an additional upgrade service. I went the DIY route as I have experience installing ceramic coatings. Halo was very easy to work with and would not be difficult to use for a beginner. You will use more of this coating on vinyl than you would a traditional coating product that is made to protect paint. Two coats is recommended for the best durability. My vehicle is a large sedan (with a 6" factory stretch) and I used close to 90 ml. to do two coats (which included my wrapped door jambs). It is recommended to apply a very liberal amount of this coating to vinyl, as it will soak it in. Plan to use more than you initially expect is my point. Halo did not alter my matte finish and makes it feel slick and well protected. This car is a garage queen so I cannot really comment on durability but I expect it will last many years. There are other coatings that are safe to use on vinyl wraps, but this is the first (and only?) coating that is made specifically for vinyl and PPF. Highly recommend.

Having been an avid user of Car Pro products, I wanted to take a stab at Gtecniq products for the PPF portion of my car. The process as to any ceramic coating is similar to other brands. Halo was very easy to apply and wipe off. It was around mid 80s and flashing was pretty much instant. I also tried halo on plastic pieces and it performed well, the plastic pieces were not darkened heavily as a trim restorer would do. In essence it was a very easy application process and impressed at how slick the PPF is. Usually it's a bit grabby but now it feels like ceramic coated paint. Impressive.

I have done other Gtechniq coatings on PPF before with positive results, but when halo was released as the official PPF and vinyl coating I had to try it out. Halo is easy to apply. Even for those who have no experience, it is easy to apply and avoid high spots. I do recommend the carpro block and suede pads for most application surfaces. It is quicker and more consistent than the supplied Gtechniq applicator pad.

Prep work is pretty straight forward. Decon wash, polish if needed, panel wipe/eraser and you are good to go for application. For the application I do a vertical line down a CarPro suede pad on a foam block. Like CSL or EXO work in 2'x2' sections. Have one microfiber towel to buff inside the 2'x2' section and one to buff outside the section. Each towel has 8 clean sides. You should swap after each section and replace towels as necessary. Performance wise over something like XPEL ultimate or SunTek Ultra is more of a water bead applied to the film. Looks wise there is something a little extra added by HALO to my eye. If you have PPF or any variety of vinyl this is a wonderful way to provide long term protection.
